Hi, I'm currently working on multiple projects I would like to make available to the public under community use license, which I plan to do in the form of pdf files with a professional looking makeup to them (I'm a media designer and love to do this as a hobby)
My questions concern using images, since there are a couple I will just ask them in a list form:
1. When using Paizo images in accordance to the CUP am I allowed to alter them in any way? (adding/removing/cropping out/isolating elements, recoloring parts or the entire picture, mirroring the image, using only parts of the image)
1b. If isolating elements from an artwork is not permissible, does that also apply to images that are already on a white background?
2. The guidelines say not to use any of Paizo's covers, does that mean only the complete cover or also include the artwork if it has been posted on the Paizo blog without the other cover elements? (pathfinder RPG logo, title treatment)
3. Am I allowed to mix artwork I own into a document in which I use paizo's artwork under the CUP? What about free stock images and graphics that according to the owner can be used without purchase or asking for permission?
These are all the questions I have for now, I think I had more at one point, if they come back to me I will add them.
Thanks for your help.

1. We haven't provide specific restrictions on that (though the general "You agree to use your best efforts to preserve the high standard of our intellectual property" stuff still applies.
2. You've misread. The section about cover images (with added emphasis) says "You may use the cover images, as displayed on paizo.com, of all of the products on our Community Use Approved Product List at paizo.com/communityuse/products. Product covers may not be cropped, color adjusted, edited, distorted, or modified." And if the cover art itself has been posted without titles on the blog, you can use it as you would any other image posted on the blog.
3. You can do that, but again, the general "You agree to use your best efforts to preserve the high standard of our intellectual property" stuff still applies.

If you want to use mechanics that have been released under the OGL, you need to use the OGL, which you can find in any OGL product. The OGL itself tells you how to use it.
Please note that the OGL is Wizards of the Coast's license, not Paizo's, and so I can't provide any binding advice about its suitability for your use. You may wish to consider speaking with an intellectual properties legal specialist.
