Hi, I'm looking for a list of lesbian euphemisms. I'm not talking about vulgar/explicit slurs or insults, but the sort of thing that you would slip into casual language that is 'code' that makes sense for those who know what it means.
Examples:
She wears sensible shoes.
She's a friend of Dorothy.
There's probably a list on the Internet somewhere, but I couldn't quite find one with my googling. Either a link or just posting here on the thread with stuff would be appreciated. Thank you very much.

Don't go there. If you have to ask this question, you're the same as a white person asking if it's proper for him to use the N-word.
If you have to ask this question, then you lack the proper understanding of context in which these words are used. If you don't understand that context, you're better off not using that language.

I have to wonder if you think all lesbians come fully formed knowing the "lingo" with this sort of attitude.

Nobody is born encultured. The easy that people learn a culture to which they belong is by participating in the culture and learning from other members.
Asking strangers and non-group members on an anonymous message board not related to the culture or community is a little different.
That said, I don't think there's anything wrong with curiosity. Just ask a person of the culture you're wanting to learn about.

Do you understand why "blackface" is considered offensive?
Lesbian "lingo" like all other form of languages is formed of values unique to a given subculture. And that particular lesbian subculture in America will differ from a lesbia subculture created in England, Italy, or Japan, because of different root values.
Members of a subculture, just as members of the greater culture have things of their own that they don't appreciate being cheapened or mocked by outsiders. (Rather dramatically seen when the presenters of Top Gear UK had a rather... memorable road trip through the Old South.)
