1-1D Crusaders Assemble! How did you do?

Pathfinder Adventure Card Society

I'm still kind of salty about the thing that happened at the end of the Avengers Ultron movie.

But apart from that, we did 1-1D yesterday. I love the adjustments Tanis et al made to this scenario after Paizocon - in particular the clarification of the double deck upgrade and the Laboratory location, making it useful for pure casters other than as a thing you have to do to get the AD 1 reward. I even got a (gasp) Spell reward.

We actually had two tables this time around (the other played 1-1B) and Brian Campbell came over! We had many Clerics for this thing (3 in all)

Why is it a double deck upgrade? All the boons you acquire go in a pile. Another effect adds cards to this pile. The scenario doesn't say you get this pile. It only says you can take one of the boons from the pile as a bonus upgrade.

Are the players supposed to treat the boon pile as acquired cards?

I just played this tonight. After doing 1-1C prior, it was a welcomed change of pace. XD

The pile is supposed to be gained after the scenario (it doesn't make sense any other way). Other scenarios do have that wording (eg 0-5B) so pretend it does :P and Tanis can comment on it later.

Good catch.

We assumed we got to pick something from the boon pile as you would normally do with acquired cards, and then a second time as part of the scenario reward. Hopefully that was correct?

The real question is, can a character:

1) Pick a card as a scenario reward that was also picked as an acquired card.

2) Pick a card as a scenario reward that was also picked by someone else's scenario reward.

Luckily we had no conflicts but it's an interesting question.

-----------

As I said in the other thread, we had no problem with this scenario, but it probably had a lot to do with our two spellcasters having Diplomacy. The only challenge was the villain.

It was kind of a loot run for me, so many weapons.

Sovereign Court

I would most definitely say no to both questions. Regardless of whether the pile counts as acquired cards, multiple cannot take the same card no matter what it was taken for.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

No duplication. Tanis outlined the process for us at PaizoCon: each player picks 2 deck upgrades (roll for conflicts as usual). You don't treat each deck upgrade as a separate "pick from the pile".

That makes sense.
