Who should I play for Season 1?

Trying to decide between Zarlova and WotR Kyra.

Solo? With a party? What kind of character do you want to play? I have two different players who both play Kyra in Season 0 yet they both play her in different ways. One is support and the other is more solo oriented (she explores on her own most of the time).

Well, and Wrath Kyra is very different from class deck Kyra. Class deck Kyra can beat the crap out of stuff with swords and use her spells for support. Wrath Kyra is all spell based. I personally would prefer Kyra because I feel like she has more utility to deal with combat. Our Zarlova frequently has to try to beat things to death with her d4 strength at the beginning of the game.

I'd also lean towards WotR Kyra. For one, she's a character from the primary set used for Season 1, so she should be more specialized to face its challenges. Secondly, I had a Zarlova player during Season 0 and during so learned that the Cleric Class Deck just doesn't have enough Attack Spell support. With the major focus on Demons in WotR, I could see Krya's blast ability covering that weakness pretty well.

What Pluvia said, although I love Zarlova (in a campaign), I don't love her in OP, there's just not enough spell support for her playstyle imo.

So I'd play Kyra hands down. The question is, which version of Kyra?

I'd stay away from spellcasting Kyra for the same reason I'd stay away from Zarlova, although Kyra has more utility and would be better.

I could be wrong, but I feel that season 1 will feature more combat compared to season 0, which favors weapon combat as opposed to spell combat. In addition, with demonic immunities, spell combat might not be the best idea in season 1.

Having said that, I'd pick "class deck" Kyra because she's an absolute beast, extremely powerful.

Btw, I think Kyra (and clerics) are a great choice for season 1, with high wisdom.

Well, Logan did specify that he's debating between either Zarlova or WotR Kyra, so it looks like he wants to play a spell-focused cleric.

He asked my opinion, I gave it. Kyra class, Kyra WotR, Zarlova in that order.

If faced with a decision and you can't make up your mind, flip a coin. If you can't accept the result, that's a decision. If you can accept the coin's decision, either you picked correctly or the decision never mattered in the first place. Either way the decision is over in 1 minute.

I ran some scenarios at PaizoCon with WotR Kyra because I wanted to try her out. (I'll do some reports but most likely after the Con because I'm tired!)

She's definitely quite good, though the Demon/Undead thing doesn't always kick in and her fighting is otherwise weak. She's more spellcasty than CD Kyra or RotR Kyra but not as casty as Zarlova.
