Early this week we released our newest Warrior Prestige Archetypes that provides two versions of the Mammoth Lord PRC as a core class.
------------------------------------------------------
This release contains two similar builds for the Mammoth Lord prestige class. We call one the mammoth lord and one the mammoth rider.
From the inhospitable arctic wastes of the far north comes the mighty mammoth lord—a fearsome warrior who has trained one of the great beasts that wander the chilly wilds to serve as his faithful steed. Toughened by their harsh environment, mammoth lords tame their surroundings through tenacious determination and sheer force of will, fighting alongside their bestial companions to take down huge game and carve out a hard existence in the icy north.
Prestige Class: Mammoth Rider.
Role: Mammoth lords bring their steeds everywhere they go, and most refuse to take even one step further. Dominant in the open, they become more timid if forced indoors or into cramped areas.
A mammoth rider is a friend of the huge beasts of his homeland. Using his wilderness skills and the power of his ferocious steed, he is a terror to any soft southerners who invades his territory.
Prestige Class: Mammoth Rider.
Build Classes: Ranger.
Role: Mammoth riders can fight either mounted and on foot, always in concert with their steed.
What is a Prestige Archetype?
A prestige archetype is a prestige class turned into a normal 20-level class, similar to an archetype or alternate class.
The goal when making these prestige archetypes has been to capture the flavor of the prestige class rather than to make an exact copy of how it would normally be. Attack bonuses, hit dice, class skills, spells, and class features have been unified and spread evenly over levels. This means that most prestige archetypes have their prestige abilities spread over the entire 20 level spread. Unlike how prestige classes normally work, these archetypes have a few complete class abilities rather than many abilities limited to a low level. In some cases, you get the choice of one of several class abilities rather than stymied versions of all the abilities.
A prestige archetype generally has elements of one or more regular character classes, to represent how prestige prerequisites were met and character development after the prestige class has ended. Sometimes there is more than one class that naturally leads itself to a particular prestige class, which can lead to several different prestige archetypes for different combinations. A few are not built on a regular class, instead expanding the idea behind the prestige class to a full 20 levels. —Carl Cramér

And Daniel's newest DCC Campaign Element the Crimson Void.
Any role-playing game session can take a left turn at Albuquerque, leaving the poor Game Master wondering what to do next. This is even more true for the dedicated Dungeon Crawl Classics judge, who discovers that patron quests, divine disapproval, and the requests of gods to pay back divine favor can make the game take incredible new turns with the roll of a few dice.
Add to this the advice urging players to “Quest For It” when they want something unusual for their characters, and you have a potent stew for gaming, but also a situation in which the judge may want strong DCC elements with a minimum of preparation required.
The Campaign Element (CE) series attempts to address these specific areas. Now, when your wizard is looking for a spell, your cleric is sent on a mission from her deity, or your thief simply wants to find a location where stealth and a cunning mind are paramount, you will have an answer at your fingertips. Weave these campaign elements into your world, mesh them into other modules and areas of your own creation, and watch the “Appendix N” vibe of your games grow.
In addition, for various reasons sometimes only a few players were available for a night’s gaming. Each Campaign Element is short enough to be played through by most groups in only a single session. That doesn’t mean that the value of the area is limited to a single session – each adventure includes notes on “squeezing it dry”…effectively getting the maximum re-use from your investment.
Using This Material
"The Crimson Void" describes a unique goddess (Kala Môr), Her cult, temple grounds, as well as the priests and other beings associated with the location. The easiest way to use this material is to allow PC clerics of Kala Môr attached to this temple. Kala Môr may also be used as a template for creating unique deities of the judge’s own devising. Other characters may oppose the temple, come to it for aid, attempt to prevent a sacrifice, or need to leap into the Crimson Void themselves. Robbing the temple of its riches would be a crowning achievement for any thief. A Neutral deity was chosen to allow the judge to easily use Kala Môr as both aid and adversary to any group as he chooses.
A setting element to help create a rich campaign environment for DCC games of all levels.
