Trial of the Beast - Why doesn't the Beast tell the party about Caromarc?

Carrion Crown

I have been reading through this adventure path, and I just got to the resolution of the trial where the beast immediately tells them about Caromarc. Before it was said that the beast discloses the name of his creator under no circumstances.

So what is the in-game reason that he suddenly is fine with disclosing that information?

Sovereign Court

If I understand correctly, it's less out of loyalty to Caromarc and more out of self-interest that he withholds that information; he refuses to give Caromarc's name because that's, in his mind, the only reason the PCs are helping him. If he gave it up earlier, he'd have no leverage.

I had the same issue. I didn't have the beast tell them. I changed it so that Aureen Vrood's name appeared as the most recent in the ledger at Vorkstag and Grine's as selling them the flesh golem hound. When the judge asked them to investigate the beasts origin they followed the trail for how V&G got a flesh golem. After investigating Vrood in town they found out he and some compatriots were believed to be traveling to the count's when they left.
