Okay, there was a thread discussing the law that enabled the action I'm about to mention. Discussion got into areas which really should not be discussed on these forums, discussions got heated, and people stated things that really shouldn't have been. That was that thread. It is NOT THIS THREAD. DO NOT DO TYPE THAT SORT OF STUFF IN THIS THREAD. IT IS NOT ABOUT THAT TYPE OF JUNK. IF YOU HAVE TO HATE, LET IT WEIGHT DOWN ANOTHER PLACE THEN HERE!

Okay, so what am I talking about. Indiana just passed a controversial law. It turns out that there's a diner that is going to refuse catering LGBT weddings supposedly.

Pizza parlor gets free advertising

So why is this funny?

I HIGHLY DOUBT that would have been a factor for them anyways. They are in a town under 3000 people. I REALLY don't think they would have to EVER worry about this conflict of "beliefs." in that town.

If you really think about it, their entire premise is somewhat ludicrous, as the location probably will have NOTHING for them to worry about EVER in regards to catering an LGBT wedding.

Furthermore...THEY ARE A PIZZA JOINT IN A NO NAME TOWN for goodness sake.

Soooooo.....

Why did they do this?

Have you ever heard of this pizza joint? No...No...I've never heard of them either.

They are in the national news.

Some genius there probably thought...hmm...what do we have to lose...a boycott from the LGBT crowd here...that's not going to do much to business....

But all those others rushing here to supposedly support our "religious" rights...well now....

These guys just won the coup on free advertising. They'll probably see sales shoot up a hundred fold or more over the next month...sure it will be a short fad...but talk about a marketing reaping.

Really nothing to lose, and a whole bunch of people going there because of what they said...

I'm thinking this is more of an advertising scheme on their part rather than ANYTHING to do with any belief system...

Which is why I think it's so funny. How many do you think are going to fall for this ploy?

Some are going to call for a boycott (from an unexisting customer base anyways...so...how do you boycott when there was no real audience to boycott in the first place...any boycott just brings more attention)...and others (and this is the real kicker) are going to rush over to show their support and buy.......Pizza.

Is it okay to laugh at such an obvious advertising ploy?

Sorry, I just saw this and I had to laugh because the REAL reason they proclaimed this seems so absolutely obvious...at least to me.

PS: IN case you missed it, this discussion is about advertising ploys...NOT the actual law or items that enabled such an advertising ploy. You can make your own thread to discuss those politics. This is purely the LOL part of how this advertising scheme plays off of people's and media's emotions.

Locking. I really don't like having to say this, but we just don't have the bandwidth to wrangle and give proper attention to this thread. Given how heated the issue is from all sides, and the responses in other threads, our team is concerned paizo.com may not be the right venue for this discussion at this time.
