Venture Officer ratios

I'm curious how many venture officers are typically needed in a given area, based on the number of tables that are being run? is there a general ratio or anything?

I'm blessed to live in Seattle, where we have an insanely active PFS group. you can literally play here every day of the week if you were so inclined and didn't mind driving an hour. as such, we have a ton of VLs as well, but they're all concentrated on the east side of Puget Sound (Bellevue, Redmond, etc) and the west side is basically left to the coordinators to handle things.

I've asked one of my VCs about getting a VL to represent the west side of town, and was told we had too many already and there wouldn't be any new officers in the near future.

I'm just curious why this is. the VOs we have in the area are all deserving and work hard, but they're concentrated to one part of town. it just strikes me as odd that north and west Seattle have no VO representation, despite reporting ten tables every week.

The Exchange 5/5

There is no formula that I am aware of. If a VC wants to make someone a VL they submit the name to Mike, he approves and Customer Service does the rest. In my opinion, it's easy to make a VL but not so easy to eliminate one. There may be a legacy the current VC is dealing with. However, as far as what the limit is there is no ceiling that I am aware of. I'm not saying that your VC is wrong, just that the limitation is probably due to his or her sense of balance and propriety.

In Detroit we have three VLs. In 2014 we averaged 64.5 tables a month, including our local convention output.

Grand Lodge 5/5

Its most likely a combination of population density, number of venues, geographic, and more.

Southern Illinois isnt a terribly populous region to oversee, but it stretches out quite a bit between locations, and if things were going well in an area I couldnt oversee personally most of the time, I would likely be requesting a VL for the specific area of the region.

However, different VOs do it different ways, I imagine. I likely want to handle it that way because thats how Bob handled it with me (He was VC of Central/Southern IL, I was VL) before Kristen and I were promoted to VC. He handled the middle of the state, and I took the southern end.
