How do you treat flavor / fluff text when it comes to the RAW?

Okay, so this is kind of a "what do you do" question to GMs and Players, both are welcome.

When it comes to flavor/fluff text, how do you (or your GM) treat it?

A few examples.

The Gun Twirling feat says you can holster a weapon as a free action. If you have some crazy quick draw and quick reload stuff going on with a gunslinger then you can 'holster' your weapon, reload, draw fire... all very fast (assuming your GM doesn't limit your free actions) So, assuming this is possible, I allow for a character to say they aren't holstering the guns, they are juggling them. Game mechanic it works the same way, just looks cooler.

A less extreme example (since it doesn't assume any rules)... On Dark Wings for Infernal sorcerers says you get Bat Wings. But what if your concept is that you are descended from an Erinyes? Okay, so you have black feathered wings. Mechanically it's the same, just your wings are erinyes style feathered wings not the pit-fiend bat wings.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

As long as it's the same as far as mechanics goes and doesn't waste too much time with needless explanations i.e. verbal description and gestures representing gun juggling every combat then who cares? More flavour can be more fun.
