General Recruitment Question

I'm interested in running a PbP game for my regular gaming group here on the message boards as a trial run at running a PdP game with players I know rather than submitting a blanket request. How do I set something like that up? Is that even possible?

If you already know who your players are, you can skip the recruitment phase and just open a discussion thread. Point your friends toward it, attach a gameplay thread, and you're ready to go.

New question.....how do your players have their character details appear at the top of every post?

Use the Race and Class/Level boxes on the profile, like this or this.

Chillblame, why do you recommend labeling a game as closed in the Discussion and Gameplay threads? I'm asking seriously; I've been in literally dozens of PbP games on the boards over the last 4+ years, and I've never had anyone try to pop in uninvited. Is that becoming a thing?

Another question, How does one go about finding new players? I'm trying to break away from my general gaming group and their style, And my plain old recruitment thread isn't seeming to do much good. I've only got maybe 5 people responding in two days.

Beats me. It's not like you're a boards novice; I know that when I was actively looking for campaigns, I'd tend to shy away from people without a posting history. (Having a few GMs vanish right after finishing recruitment and starting the gameplay thread got very old very quickly.) I've also noticed that homebrew campaigns don't tend to get as much love as whatever the popular AP is, even though running APs to completion is not easy.
