A Lack of a Map of Ancient Thassilon

Rise of the Runelords

I am currently running Rise of the Runelords, and my group is almost done with The Fortress of the Stone Giants. Recently, I was searching for a map of Ancient Thassilon, particularly a map that showed the borders of each domain of Thassilon. After reading the History of Thassilon article, I got a basic idea where each domain was, but I was still not clear.

Maybe, I just missed the map somewhere. If someone knows of a map that shows the borders of each Domain would you please lead me to it.

I think the map would be a great resource for players to get a better idea of the geography of ancient Thassilon. The map would be something players would easily find in the library below Jorgenfist.

I was also thinking of continuing the campaign after book 6, because my player seem to be having a great time. The map would be a great resource to expand on the campaign and stay with the ancient Thassilon theme.

Also, there are some PFS Scenarios from Season 4 that relate to the Runelord of Sloth IIRC. They'll be too low level to use as-is with a post-RotR party but storylines could be adapted.

Thank you. That was exactly what I was looking for. That was a extremely fast reply. I was expecting to wait days, but I have never posted here before. Thanks again.

Wow, that WAS fast.

Ancient Thassilon, as a "pet" location of the Creative Director, has a lot of information available, from the potentially-obsolete articles way back in Adventure Path #1-6 (which sadly couldn't fit into the Anniversary Edition) to the excellent Lost Kingdoms.

As for the Runelords, if you want to use published material, two have already risen - Karzoug, obviously, and Krune, Runelord of Sloth, in the PFS scenario The Waking Rune. James Jacobs has hinted (I believe - couldn't cite a source) that he intends to return to Varisia for the rise of Sorshen and/or Xanderghul, so given time, you might have those to work with. I would probably advise checking out Shattered Star, though, as the first solution. You'd need a new party to do it properly, but I'm sure you could find a way.

If you're looking to homebrew, at least three Runelords are still up for grabs (if you leave the aforementioned two out). Zutha, Runelord of Gluttony, among the mountains of Belkzen; Belimarius, Runelord of Envy, who like Xanderghul would be north in the Lands of the Linnorm Kings; and Alaznist, Karzoug's ancient rival, who probably makes the most sense (given that the Path kind of sets her up too).

If you want something a little less Runelord-centric, Lost Kingdoms buy it has a list of fascinating ancient ruins, very much in the vein of the Black Monk's tower in Jorgenfist.

There's plenty more where this came from; if any of this interests you, feel free to ask!

In Dungeons of Golarion there are details of Alaznists stronghold and some information on where she is and what would wake her.

Indeed! Hollow Mountain, at the far end of the (broken) Irespan, if I recall correctly. As Sins of the Saviors suggests, Bakrakhan was one of the most advanced centers of fleshwarping, due to pacts made with the qlippoth lord Yamasoth. So if you liked the sinspawn, you'll love Alaznist's realm. Again, Shattered Star contains helpful details, as does Magnimar: City of Monuments, which discusses the shriezyx that infest the Irespan. I believe they were recently reprinted in Bestiary 4.

Woah. THAT is a lot of information. Spoilers would've been nice.

Ruyan.

Thanks for all the good information for where to look for more ideas. Sense Rise of the Runelords takes place in 4707, it would be fine to change the cannon in my home game, because none of it has taken place yet. I might do something to with the Runelord of Wrath or go straight to Xin. I have a setting lawyer in my group and he might not like it but it might help him stop metagaming to go off the rails alittle.

Sorry for the lack of spoiler tags; it's really hard to do on mobile. As for metagaming, I wouldn't be too worried - there's not too much that's been set in stone. Technically, the other runewells don't even have to be in their nations...

If anyone needs more info, or suggestions on where to go or what to tweak, I'll be here. :)

I've been working on a Rise of the Runelords-Shattered Star mash-up which has turned out really, really well. It occurs to me that one way to continue the adventure a bit (apart from making new characters and running Shattered Star as the intended sequel), is to play book 6 of Shattered Star as a sort of epilogue. Other adventurers could have acquired the pieces of the Star, the players could hear of its re-forging and be present for when the chaos that follows goes down. Shouldn't take much adjustment at all, really.
