I have been thinking, since the new Star Wars games use funny dice how well would they work for a PbP on this site. There are rules for using regular dice, but I have to wonder if it would be too clunky to bother with. Anyone have any thoughts?
I'm not familiar with the Star Wars game, but you can roll any odd kind of dice using the forum dice roller.
The dice are funny in that they use symbols instead of numbers. Also, depending on the die, some symbols are more common then others.
Might be more difficult then. You'd have to assign each symbol to a number and, for the more common ones, a range of numbers. Like, every even number is X, or 1-4 is X, 5-6 is Y, 7 is Z.
There are charts that convert numbers to symbols but I think it would be to clunky for PBP.
You could always use Orokos.com for the die rolls. There's dice expressions set up specifically for the new FFG Star Wars there. :)

You can create a link from Orokos by going to the 'link bbcode' hyper just under your results. If you click on it, it shows the whole code for your roll. Then highlight from '[url] to [/url]', ctrl-c, then post it here, like this:

I've been playing in one for about a year and a half (link) and the dice conversion still takes me an extra second to do, but it's not really a hassle or anything. We have a quick reference in the campaign tab. We've considered using orokos recently, but the conversion method definitely is a thing that works.
