I used it a bit in mine, but as the party in my campaign is made up entirely of things that the Ilsurianites are pretty intolerant of (Varisians, Shoanti, tieflings... the book only mentions the first but I figure the latter two are natural as well given their history as a Korvosan settlement) they didn't stay too long. They tried to use the library for a little research, IIRC, and had a minor run-in with the Truth Advocates (no combat or anything.)
We're also running Jade Regent with the same group (different DM - I'm a player in that one) so I think that's also where I had Sandru make a prequel cameo in the midst of one of those market confrontations they mention. They ended up hiring his caravan to go to Korvosa to sell some stuff for them so they didn't have to trek all the way back to a city in the middle of HMM, I think. Pretty sure someone slept with him, too. Sandru gets around.
If I'd had the module at the time I might have tried to fit The Harrowing in here, but no dice. If I ever run it again for different players I'll probably do that, since I don't super like the fast track XP thing and the best way to change that is adding more content.

Used Murder's Mark and The Harrowing. First one to introduce new player, second as written. Now they have a demiplane wich costs some trillion gp, plans to open another office of their "Enemies of Lamashtu" mercenary company in the town, and installed Duggern Genthus in Ilsurian Ruling Council. The later now is making moves behind scenes, to create with Wistledown and Sipplerose a new "state" - Syrantula Alliance. And thanks to PCs, Alliance will take under their sphere of control, from Magnimar, Turtleback Ferry. Genthus next step - help Biston succeed with second attempt of secession from Korvosa, when Eodred II will suddenly die.
