Grand Lodge forum update

Shadow Lodge

Interesting change merging the two Grand Lodge forums.

Side effect - in summary view when you're looking over all the messageboards, it only shows 6 threads that were last posted on - that's less than 24 hours worth of threads that need to last a couple of days for players to see them to sign up for games. Merging the two forums means people will see less of both local and online games.

This was actually a problem before the merge (notably with how long they'd still be showing); seems to have gotten worse now.

Any word on this?

The current summary of the forum only shows threads with a last post over the past 24 odd hours. There are games scheduled in there that aren't due to run for a few weeks.

So you're asking them to rewrite the code for one section of the forum? If players are interested in knowing what games are there, they can open the forum. AFAIK there's no way for the forum to know when the games are scheduled.

I didn't realise it was a matter of re-writing code, but looking at it again you might be right.

I noticed some forums show 10 threads, but they've posted within the same amount of time; other forums show 1 thread posted between 2 days ago to November.

It's just concerning that GMs will post games there hoping to get players, and players may not even know the game is running if they don't specifically open it up because it looks like nothing's running. Doesn't seem like there's an easy solution.

The summary of forums goes off of a specific lapse of time since posts have been made in them and posts past that time tend to drop off. There's no set number of recent threads we display, and the recent change to the Grand Lodge shouldn't have had an effect on how that behavior works. I imagine that forums that have up to 10 recent threads that you're seeing simply have more posting traffic.
