Proficiency in Eastern Martial Weapons

I know this seems simple, but for PFS do you need to get a exotic weapon proficiency in an eastern weapon that is listed under the Martial Table in Ultimate Combat?

I'm guessing that they fall under martial they are covered under the martial weapons proficiency that many classes have.

I have no doubt that weapons on that same page under Exotic require a proficiency, it is just the other ones I am not sure.

Being manufactured a long way from where you live doesn't make a sword harder to figure out. "Exotic" in terms of proficiency has nothing to do with ethnicity, it has to do with how complicated or unwieldy or unusual the weapon actually is.

That's important to remember because once upon a time, it wasn't true. "Exotic Weapons" did sometimes have that designation due to being strange/foreign to the prevailing "common" culture of the campaign setting.

But within the context of Pathfinder and especially PFS, the quote above is spot on. I might quibble a LITTLE bit, and say the exotic designation actually has more to do with rules mechanics balance issues that disqualify the weapon for inclusion in the martial category.

Yep - no extra requirement. It's why most fighters now start level 1 with Four Mirror Armor instead of Scale. (+1 Armor & 5gp cheaper)

It's also why nodachi are better than falchions. (+.5 damage and Brace with no disadvantage)
