Been trying to think of a good source for some custom characters to tackle Skull & Shackles, and decided to try bringing to Golarion a few favourites from Firefly.
check out the others:

I've modelled her loosely on Siwar, but based on Shindig, we know that Inara knows how to handle a rapier.
Inara – Female, human, Bard
Favoured card type: Item
Str – D4
Dex – D6
Con – D6
Int – D8 – Kno +2
Wis – D8
Cha – D10 – Dip +3, Arc +1, Div +1
Weapon 1
Spell 3
Armour –
Item 3
Ally 5
Blessing 3
Hand size 6 []7
If a weapon has the “finesse” trait, Inara gains the skill “Melee: Dexterity +2” []and proficiency with weapons.
You may recharge a card to add D4 []+1, []+2 to a check by another character at your location.
If a barrier has the “task” or “skirmish” trait, you may use your diplomacy in place of any listed skill.

Conceptually, I think everything works fine for the character. The one potential issue I see is that I'm not sure she's really all that different from current characters (she's essentially a cross between Siwar and Lem). Maybe take some time to think of new twists on the character, but if not, it's a perfectly reasonable character.

Well, as I've being saying in another thread, I'm getting very frustrated with Siwar's inability to fight right now (4 scenarios in to the S&S adventure deck 0 Adventure), so if I end up throwing in the towel on that group, I wouldn't be too upset about it being similar (but able to fight)
that said, I do want to do something a bit more interesting/thematic. Will have to have another think...

Not a lot changed in the base card, but I don't think a lot needed to, so good job not over-designing.
First, I noticed she had favored card: Item. I didn't notice that before and I'm curious about the decision. The standard bard 'any' favorite would be ideal for her, with her one weapon, but even if you don't go that direction, ally would seem to make more sense. I'm curious as to your reasoning.
I'm a bit surprised that she can never help herself with her song. I'm not saying you need to change it, but I do think it would work for the character. (That being said, boosting yourself often becomes a 'must have' role, so that might be a good reason to not go that way).
I'm a bit worried about the ability to use diplomacy on any human, but not nearly enough so that you should change it. Just keep an eye on it to see if it's ever doing too much.
Also, I notice that Companion gets almost the exact same boost to boon acquisition that Kaylee's Salvage Expert does, except for the interim feat (allies vs items). I think you might want to change one so it's not as obvious an overlap (and possibly merge it with the close checks power, to free up a feat).
In the teacher role, I have one issue with the ally power. Inara starts with 5 allies, and this is the only power on all her cards to interact with allies, and yet it doesn't interact at all with her allies. I might try to find some way to either let her use that power on herself, or recharge her allies for others, so you can really feel that synergy.
I was initially concerned about her blessing power, but after some consideration, I think it's fine. I find recharging blessings is most powerful when used to explore, which isn't an issue here.
Overall, I like it. You have a few new takes on the designs, and there's not really anything that scares me power-wise. Good work.

Last tweaks before the play-test:
"[] When any character at your location attempts a check, ([] you or) they may recharge any number of allies. Add d4([]+1) to the check for each ally recharged."
-this power can self-target, but not the generic one (otherwise, as you say, it can easily become a "must-have" power), and it plays increasingly into the use of allies.
I hadn't really noticed just how similar the boon-acquiring power was. I've changed it as follows, just to vary things up a bit.
[] If you fail a check to acquire an ally ([] or any other boon) you may return it to the top of your location ([] and may explore again).
I think the "favoured card type" may well be a copy-paste error- I certainly don't recall having chosen it for a particular reason.
