How to accept a Company to your settlement

It would appear some of the Settlement leaders do not know how to accept a new company to their settlement. Would someone who knows how, post the procedure to assist.

Company should apply using the /vcsearch command by finding the Company that founded the Settlement, opening the info window, and selecting the Settlement tab.

Settlement Leader (the leader of the Company that founded the Settlement, set up by Lee or Bonny) needs to log in and access /vcsearch, then the Settlement tab, and approve applicants.

How do you approve applicants?

I was there last night and could not see a button to or command to do so.

Are you the leader of the Company that leads the Settlement (i.e. was that information communicated to Lee when the Settlement was set up?)

No, I am one of the three listed leaders of the settlement. I have previously invited players into our company, but don;t recall if that was same as inviting companies into settlement.

If that is the case, that may be another issue that needs looking into.

There is currently only a single Settlement leader. That is the person that needs to accept an invitation from a Company to join a Settlement.

Each Company also has it's own leader and that is the person that is responsible for accepting members into that Company.

It's pretty simple.

The one hiccup I've heard about is that applications may vanish during server downtime so it is a good idea to approve any applications before that happens.

Goblin Squad Member

There is no "info window with settlement tab" I have had a compnay for 4 weeks and still cannot join a settlement.

Also the other hiccup is it takes no account of AWOL settlement leaders. If I understand the procedure correctly ou pretty much need to find out who the designated person is and contact them and arrange to log in at the same time as them.

Each Settlement has a leader. They have all told us what kind of Settlement they wanted. They have not all gotten their company/settlement setup complete but we can't make them talk to us. All the active Settlements you see represented on the forums and in game chat are good, as far as I know. That Settlement leader does not need to be on line when you are on line to approve your company application.

You will only be able to make a company application if you are the leader of that company.

But, if that ONE settlement leader goes inactive, what is GW's contingency plan for that?

Many months ago, the debate on these forums was that the power of the settlement would not be held in the hands of just one person. Hell, I took much criticism for saying that it always does. That was countered with "PFO will be different". I guess not, LOL.

So, what system does GW plan to have to transfer settlement control from one account to another?

How does GW determine that both parties agree to that transfer?

How does GW deal with the lack of agreement, but the settlement owner refuses to be active (but maintains the account)?

(assorted good questions)

I'm with Bludd on all of these concerns. I hope that the current issues are a reflection of alpha, and that the team can deal with them, if not immediately, then at least rapidly when EE hits.

I'd like to see settlement charters in place before EE, At least in terms of control mechanisms, and even if manual on customer services' part, but a chunk of the settlements don't have enough votes-on-paper (let alone participants) to sign one.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

After a reasonable effort to contact the person currently identified as the leader with no success, we will attempt to establish communication with other known members of the Settlement and ask them how they would like to proceed.

We have ways of identifying those people: the Land Rush leaderboard, and the relationship between characters and email accounts. We will certainly consider other relevent factors and affilitations as well.

If we cannot establish communication with anyone, we will recycle the Settlement and allocate it to a new group in a future promotion. If the other members of the Settlement cannot come to some reasonably supported nomination for a new leader, we will do the same.

In all cases we will use our discretionary powers to act in the best interest of the game and its community to make a fair and transparent disposition of the Settlement.

I think those kinds of dispositions will take weeks, not days or months.

I will have another attempt shortly to join my company to my original settlement though I am not hopeful :D

A problem seems expirations. If you are on a different time scale then the best is to contact your settlement leader.

My members (hopefully) know my e-mail (in my profile or via messages send to them) or PM me.

But just 'signing on' is likely to get lost - especially in my case if you are US timezone.

I have been checking my applications once a day and have yet to see anyone attempting to join the Settlement or my Company.

I was finally able to approve the application of a secondary character of mine to my primary's company though it took awhile to take.

My issue at the time (a few weeks ago) was actually working out how to even submit an application, I doubt anything got successfully sent through at all.

I might try again this weekend.

I agree, the process of applying wasn't intuitive or working for awhile. Seems the apply button is working (at least for individuals to company). Will be interested to see if company to Settlement is working too.

I would have assumed that those mechanics just aren't a top priority right now, but you're laughing, so I guess the issue isn't very important? Or is that that "ironic laughing" heard so often in good-natured and non-aggressive discussions?

How can we tell which company we belong to? I have a character can't join a settlement because it's already attached to another and vcleave requires the original settlement name.

This makes no sense to me. As company leader, I can search for and find the main settlment company and click on it and bring up a company details window but there seems to be no "info" window and no "settlement tab".

I am still unable to attach my company to a settlement.

Are you able to see an Alliance tab when you click on the Settlement? I know that's where Settlement Leaders can see applicants. I don't see anything about joining either, but that could be because I already am joined.

Yeah I can see the Alliance tab but nothing about "settlement" even with the company leader. I have a random 1000 XP alt out at Rotters I will create a new company with him and see if it works better.

It is probably bugged I have lodged a bug report.
