Desynching, relogging and dying

Twice today I have desynched. To fix that I have relogged, only to hear myself dying while the screen is still showing "loading terrain". Ryan always says that he doesn't like things happening outside the player's control, I can't think of anything that is more out of the player's control than this.

I have had similar experiences, though the most humorous one was when I got hit by a shaman spell that flung me literally half a hex away into another group of goblin shamans who flung me back to my original position only to die by a gruesome mauling while I was still pulling myself off the ground.

I may have been upset except I as too busy laughing at the site of my poor dwarf being used as a volleyball by these little goblins. There is something very funny about the animation of a flying dwarf.

I was a little sad to see that particular 'death' take three points off my equipment when I ported to the shrine. I assume it was due to the desync problem I was obviously having. A lot of people will be celebrating the day the desync bug gets squashed :).

I think we Alpha players should just save time and crowdforge a default "old geezer" response to all the "new kids and their fancy desync/rollback/teleport free PFO game" for the future.

Something like: 'You kids these days have it easy! Why, back in the day we were lucky if our characters where still in the same place we left them, WASNT flying threw the sky or falling threw the earth, OR dying repeatedly while trying to heal ourselves, OR going bald at random times, or going to town and encountering the viscous and inmortal townguard wolves! You youngsters are so spoiled with your bug free and stable game play these days...)

:)

One or more users have been sent flying threw the sky.

(Attenborough impression) For creatures of their size, ogres are surprisingly adept at climbing trees. Members of the Drop Ogre subspecies seek out trees overlooking woodland paths. When animals or humanoids pass beneath them, the ogres use their own body mass to simultaneously kill and tenderize their prey. (/Attenborough impression)

(Steve Irwin Impression)That's a vicious ogre, that is. Can you see the size of those [insert generic part here](/Steve Irwin Impression)

(Marlin Perkins Impression) While Ogres are often labeled as vicious brutes and hunted to the edge of extinction, they are actually quite gentle creates when alone in their family setting. Let's watch as Jim goes in for a close-up of this Ogre-Hurler's infant. (/Marlin Perkins Impression)

I do believe that one of the rules of objectively documenting the wildlife is to not feed the wildlife. Baiting is generally frowned upon except where it is necessary to draw out a particularly reclusive specimen.

You say bait, I say sending the unpaid intern in closer for the good shot.
