We need anti-guard wolf actions

With more players potentially coming into Alpha over the weekend, the still persisting "guard wolfs" in towns near the Skirmisher/Fighter training forts need to be dealt with.

We'll have new players with no idea what's happening getting killed. Not a good scenario.

I think it would be helpful if geared up vets made a point of patrolling into towns occasionally and clearing out the wolf if there is one there.

I've found I can solo one with a Longbow, and kill the wolf before the Thornguard gets to me and melts my face off. I think Bullwark might help against the TG's rooting effects so you can make a get-away before it kills you.

We can do this! :D

These are very smart wolves to outsmart the devs so completely.


At this point, lets just leave them and let the kiddies learn the hard way.... j/k

Seriously though, I've been killed as recently as my last log in because of accidentally running into the wolf without realizing what was going on. We can try to kill the wolves and save the players; but I think they are just going to have to learn to avoid that area of town, and the quickest way to do that is to be eaten, unfortunately.

If they don't know why they were attacked, they may not perceive there's a lesson to be learned. Ghod forbid they attack the Thornguard in self-defence; they never forget, and that character's going to be toast forever, because new folks won't necessarily think to simply move to another town.


Lots and lots of PSA's, then. That's the best way to go.


I still think the best way to go is to group up with some folks and kill the wolves. PSA's are not good enough, unless you mean spamming chat about the wolves every 5 minutes. :D

I can't think of anything else you could do in alpha right now more worthwhile than help ensure some new player's have a decent experience.

The wolf spawns regularly enough these players would need to be standing by almost 24/7 yes? How many towns do they exist in?

How many man hours should this community put in to minimize the damage of a coding error that's been known for weeks?

I mean feel free to do this but I for one have better things to do with my time. If this is such a major issue to demand so many man hours of our time the GW should prioritize it higher.


The wolves me and Stefan cleared from Phoenix Pass and Ossian's crossing last night never respawned. After 8 hours, I log in this morning and they still are gone.

However, what I do so is in chat 3-4 new players complaining about being killed by wolves in Marchmont and Rathglen.


I guess I will starting making my way down to Rath and March to clear them...


Rathglen and Marchmont has been cleared, I haven't see the wolf respawn yet, hopefully they stay down till server restart.

Looks like the wolves maybe respawn after server restarts, there is one in Rathglen again. I'll try to make the rounds to Marchmont, Phoenix Pass and Ossians as well.
