Question about Playing an Add-on Character (missed shipment).

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

Hi,

I want to play the Alchemist, but it looks like he is supposed to start with a bunch of things that are not in the base set. Any suggestions on how to remedy this? Or do we all just wait for the Add-on?

Paizo seriously, SERIOUSLY, dropped the ball on this.

Sovereign Court

If you want to use his suggested decklist, then yes you'll just have to wait. Unfortunately, he is one character that, to me, is simply not playable without the add on deck. A big piece of him is his recharging banished potions, and there just aren't enough worth taking in my opinion from the base set.

Throw lots of potions of fortitude and glibness (and rock Rum Punch's diplomacy checks hard). Run two cures to get them back in your deck. Find the potions of healing in the base set. Beg fellow party members to lend you a spare ranged weapon in their opening draw if you don't see your light crossbow. Profit.

No, really, that's what Damiel's doing in a game of mine, where he's more than pulling his weight. His bomb power is good enough that any random alchemical item is a split +2d6/narrow rechargeable potion, which works out to be passable.

Run him with Valeros, Lem, or Feiya, to maximize the benefit from teaming up with someone. Talk your group into choosing Item for any early plunder rolls you get to choose :).
