Best Warlord / Marshall variant?

Homebrew and House Rules

So I'm preparing my first big D&D/PF campaign and (because of narrative reasons) I make one of vital NPC's paladin 5/warlord 5. Now first I learned about warlod/marshall class from 4th editions materials, but since we're playing 3/3,5/PF it's not an option. I know there are few PF and 3.5 variants of this class - so my question is. Which is the best.

Best balanced, not overly munchnkin-philiac, and most logical in terms of powers.

Any suggestions?

Cavalier is a good choice for a knight commander style marshal/warlord/general.
For really high power and magic levels you might be interested in the Kensai order from 3.5. (Not the pathfinder kensai) they are very...Jedi Knight / Master

Yeah, but mixing cavalier with paladin is sort of weird.
Also, while cavalier is charismatic warrior it's not really commander specialisation class.

I'm thinking more about something like this:

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/3rd-party-classes/super-genius-games/war-ma ster

I know there are also 3.5 variants, but I wonder if anyone used those, and have ya know opinion. Aren't they fundamentally broken, or so?

To to the conversion and homebrew forums and use the search bars there to look for something.

Here's a version that I did, called the Commander. You may find it useful; I wrote it up a few years ago now.
