Thinking about Gestalt classes in PF.
Done basically like 3.5, but used as a multiclass character alongside the current multiclassing and single class characters.
However, to even it out I'm thinking if someone uses a Gestalt Character they advance like AD&D did it, dividing XP between both classes.
That would mean that they advance at roughly 3/4 the speed of the others.
So a character wouldn't get 8th or 9th level spells (definately not 9th level at least) and would constantly be behind the curve for any single class (though the synergy from two classes may more than make up for it).
The other idea was to keep them at 1/2 the advancement rate period...which is even a rougher hold on them then the option above. It would mean that for every two levels everyone else go up, they would only go up one.
However, with that as the case I can't see any reason for them to even have Gestalt and just use normal multiclassing.
I don't want to hose the gestalt players...just make it a little more even so they can play alongside those who want to play single class characters.
The best way I can think of that is doing it by level/XP...
Any ideas other than what is presented above?
I have considered, no XP...but maybe at a 2/3's level advancement as well (so for every 3 levels everyone go up, the gestalt only goes up 2 levels. Still keeps them from 8th and 9th level spells, so harsher than the 3/4, but not as harsh as the 1/2 rate.
