I am making my first PFS character and I'm a bit torn.
I've generally always played support classes (all but bard) as I really enjoy playing them. Reading through the PRD has all but convinced me to keep with my tradition.
I recently played the level 7 bard pregen at Gencon and he was fun too..so I'm a bit torn between a few options:
Control Wizard (zero damage spells for flavor)
Cleric
Bard
Oracle
I think my friend that I will be playing with will be making a Gunslinger or a Magus and another friend I plan to play with from time to time has an Evocation Wizard, so I'm a bit weary to make a Wizard. Sometimes Clerics get a bit too type-cast into heal-bot for my liking...I can really come up with a good reason to play/not-play any class....
Is there any opinions or general advice you guys could give me on general PFS party construction that might point me in one direction or the other?

Having a lot of skills is helpful for a support character, especially knowledge skills. If you want something bard like look at the new skald class. The arcanist has an archetype to bump the bulls strength style spells to be +6 in addition to the regular sorc/wiz stuff.
And of course its hard to go wrong with a cleric.

Play whatever you think will be the most fun. All 4 of the classes you listed are incredibly flexible.
Try this: whatever you pick, when you introduce your character don't say "I'm a 2nd level cleric of Besmara." Instead say Say "I'm a former pirate cook, always been good luck to my crew, well mostly good luck, they ain't 'ere no more."

I don't see anything anywhere for Skald class or Arcanist?

Both are in the new Advanced Class Guide.
Also, going to second Skald. Sure, you're not much help to the party wizard, but he doesn't need it anyway.
