Hello,
I have a question about gaining credit for sanctioned content. We are running a home game adventure path. The rules state that
"Alternatively, if you are participating in the Skull
& Shackles Adventure Path with an ongoing group
undertaking the entire, six-chapter campaign, you may
receive credit for playing the sanctioned portions of the
adventure as if you had played a pregenerated character."
I am assuming that this means that each player and the GM get a chronicle sheet that they can apply to a PFS character after completing each sanctioned portion of the adventure path.
The pregenerated characters are lvl 1,4 & 7 so my question is do the players have to apply credit for to their pc's when they hit the lvl of the pregen or can they apply it to any character in the level band for the sanctioned content. If the answer is they have to apply it at the pregenerated characters lvl (1,4,7) what about the sanctioned content above these lvls (for example a portion that is for levels 9-11). Thanks for any help you can offer.

"as if you had played a pregenerated character" just means you can apply the credit to a PFS character you didn't play in that module.
The applying/holding of the chronicle sheet actually works more like GM credit (but it's still player credit if you were a player, for the purpose of replay). This means you can apply the chronicle to any character whose level is no higher than the highest level allowed by the chronicle's tier. If the character is within the tier, the chronicle is applied immediately. If the character is below the tier, the chronicle is held until the character reaches the minimum level for the chronicle's tier.

Andreas and cartmanbeck have it right; if the chronicle sheet is marked as tier 9-11, then the players' options are:
- Apply the chronicle immediately to a PFS PC of level 9-11.
- Assign the chronicle to a PFS PC of a lower level, then apply it immediately as soon as the PC reaches level 9.
- Apply the chronicle immediately to a 1st-level PFS PC, with the gold reward reduced to 1398 gp.
The GM can choose from the first two (the third isn't an option for GMs under the current rules).
I use 9-11 as an example, but the above rules apply whatever the level range, whether it's 2-4 or 17-19.

Where'd you get the 1398 gold from, out of curiosity?

I have another question. When my GM filled out the chronicles for Jade Regent, he filled in the rewards using the normal advancement track.
At normal advancement, when my PC finally reaches level 10, he'd immediately jump to level 12 because of the 10-12 and 11-13 chronicles in Jade Regent.
Assuming I reached level 10 exactly (27 XP), the 10-12 chronicle would bump me to 11 (again, exactly). Could I then choose to switch to slow advancement for level 11 or am I locked in to normal because that's how the chronicle was filled out? If I can switch, how would I show that on the chronicle (not sure I can easily get another one from the GM).
If I can't change it, then what would happen if I went through level 9 on the slow track and I didn't hit level 10 exactly, which would then lock me in to slow for level 10, but my chronicle for 10-12 is again filled in for normal advancement?

I'm pretty sure you have the option to change to slow track if you want, just write on the sheet something like "changed to slow track", put the new amount of gold and XP next to the current ones, and initial next to them. I doubt any GM is going to make a stink of you taking LESS gold and LESS experience than the sheets says you should have.

Page 30 (the AP and module section) of the new PFS Guide:
If you play a non-1st-level pregenerated character, you may apply credit from the pregenerated character to one of your 1st-level characters, with the gp gained reduced to 1,398 gp (or 699 gp for slow advancement track characters).

See, I thought in version 5 it only had rules for applying 1XP scenarios to 1st-level characters and getting 500gp. Either way, yay!

It definitely was in there for some time. It's just a bit confusing that the chapter for scenarios and the chapter for modules both have their own paragraph about pregen credit.
