Gunpowder rules in 5E

4th Edition

Does anybody know if there will be rules for firearms big and small? I've been daydreaming about converting all my Spelljammer material, and any part of the setting that I don't have to houserule is a plus.

I am going to assume they will have rules for firearms. Soonest we can expect would be the DMG, but I am fairly sure it would be in a future supplement book next year.

Wizards said that there will rules for guns in the DMG.

It's good to know that it's coming, although I'm a little bummed that I have to wait that long.

You could always use the rules for crossbows, and just say that they are guns. That should work, at least until the real rules come out.

I could do that, with a suitably long reload time. Now I just have to convert Giff to a 5E race. (Unless they're in the MM, which would be very surprising.)

Just a few weeks ago Chris Perkins posted the planning document for his new 5E campaign called Valoreign. It contained some rules for primitive firearms if I remember correctly.

I hadn't heard of that, but a quick Google search turned up the document still posted on the WotC site.

Even apart from the guns, the setting looks like it's got some interesting ideas. The Wild Magic traits might be a bit OP though; especially the one that lets you spam Dispel Magic at will.

Yeah, from what I have read his personal campaigns have some over the top craziness. Bet they are fun though!
