Do you have to do the most recent Season? (could I start with season zero?)
Do you have to do the scenarios in order? (could I start with Mists of Mwangi?)
I really love the Mists of Mwangi scenario. My main guy (as well as my brother's main) live in the Mwangi Expanse.
You do not have to start with the current season. Also there is no requirement to run scenarios in order, though some of them follow a story arc (Shadow Lodge, Hao Jin Tapestry, Runelords, Sky Citadel, Worldwound, etc.) and will make more sense to players if there is less jumping around in time. Scenarios that have multiple parts, such as Destiny of the Sands, should be run in order; some such scenarios give boons but only if run in order.

I know of one such trilogy that has a boon on one of the chronicles that only applies while playing the next scenario in order, so if you play those in reverse order, you would still get the boon, but it would be useless, because it only works in a scenario you already played.
