Been working on this for a bit, and was reminded by another thread. Have a few design questions I'd like some input one.
Name, was going to call it shaman, but that is now taken by ACG, suggestions?
From a balance perspective prepared casting (as wizard or cleric progression) and spontaneous (as sorcerer or oracle), same value?
I will post the full write up 'soon', will be a low BAB full caster with a domain-ish focus, Druid list spontaneous casting, and a ceremonial casting option that needs more work. How many folks would find something like this of interest?

I worked on a spontaneous druid-like class some time back. It included a channel energy variant, and some aura abilities with themes that included seasons, celestial bodies, flora, fauna, forest, rivers, mountains, and other fun stuff. I looked into some into some druids from folklore and legend for inspiration, such as Cathbad and Merlin.

Before you put a bunch of work into this, have you looked at the Shaman Class from Kobold Press (New Paths Compendium)? It's almost exactly what you are describing.
I was about to suggest the very same thing :) Please check it out!
Here's the store text for the shaman to give you a little better idea what the class is about:
The Spontaneous Druid
It's odd that the mystic druid must prepare spells ahead of time—so now he doesn't! The shaman is a nature and spirit-focused spontaneous caster, with otherworldly new abilities and an animal spirit guide.
The removal of prepared spells makes this a more mystical and freeform nature-based caster, and the new powers and expanded wildshape and totem abilities mean that the Shaman is both flexible and powerful. Marvel at the new spirit dance, improved wildshape powers, and totem secrets, which grant additional powers beyond the ken of mere druids.
The New Paths Companion also includes three new shaman archetypes - the elemental shaman, primal shifter, and witch doctor, plus new feats and spells specific to the Shaman that make them masters of the spirit world and an expanded list of animal spirit guides. The book even includes a host of tracking sheets, including ones for animal spirit companion (easily used for standard animal companions as well) and wildshape forms.
