Introduced the boy to the Schwarzenegger Conan last night. I think he found the orgy scene a tad uncomfortable. At least his mother had already gone to bed…
And, of course, I had to make him try and guess where he’d heard the bad guy’s voice before….
I think today is the Super Bowl. That would explain why, at the grocery store yesterday, I was unable to find the chicken wings I like. All these amateurs who think they can cook are going to try and make wings for the game.
So I had to get some turkey breasts instead. They’ll go in a brine in a little bit, destined for my smoker later today.
Maybe next week I’ll cook some gumbo.
Woohoo! I think I’ve gained weight!
And the sun is shining again.
Did I mentioned we’ve had pretty decent weather the last few days? Highs in the 70s and lows in the 60s. Sweet!
The boy got his hard cast on the broken arm today. It only goes just over half way to his elbow. The break was a little closer to his wrist, but still in the arm. He’ll have it for six weeks.
When he was with me in the comic book store yesterday, the employees asked us what happened. I told them I kept warning him if he ran into someone with the cart at the grocery store, I’d let them beat the crap out of him….
I don’t think they believed me.
Last Friday boss man reached out to another department to see if they could help us with the job he’s got me working. Which, in turn, was something I’m helping someone else with. I didn’t want him to, because I’d rather not have anyone stepping all over my process and doing things wrong.
Oh joy.
Otherwise, it’s starting off as a kind of happy Monday. The kids don’t have school this week (another lazy teachers vacation). This means I can get out the house a bit earlier than usual. And there’s slightly less traffic on the roads.
Busy day yesterday. And it’ll be busy again today. There is, however, a light at the end of the tunnel. So to speak. The project I was put on last week is nearly done. Over 6000 rows of spreadsheet to go through.
Happy Work from Home Wednesday and Saint Valentine’s Day!
I had a rather lovely drive to work this morning. Only one true dumbass on the road. Some idiot who got on the interstate and proceeded to go about 45 mph. There ought to be a law against that kind of stupidity.
BUT!!!!!
I had Popeyes yesterday at lunch, for the first time in nearly a year. I know it’s not healthy for me, and won’t be eating it often, but I needed to test my bowels. I needed to see if they were up to the task.
So far, not too bad.
Huzzah for food that at least tastes good!
Happy Friday!!!
Planning to do lunch with some coworkers today. Not sure where though.
I’ve been watching this new show on Netflix - House of Ninjas. It’s interesting, but predictable.
A decent Saturday was had.
This morning has already been a bit rough. The dog’s having stomach problems again, and had poopy accidents all over. Had to wake up the boy early to help me clean it all up.
Then I saw a Film Threat review of Dune 2, and the dude said one of the worst rumors about the film was complete BS, so that gives me more hope.
Happy Monday?!?
Not for my kids, that’s for sure. They had to go back to school after a week off (for another teacher vacation time). It’s starting to get light out earlier now, though, so despite the increased number of people on the road (and my slightly later departure time), my drive to work was pretty decent.
In other good news….
I smoked a pork butt yesterday. And tomorrow we’re doing red beans and rice. So things are (hopefully) getting back closer to normal for me.
Happy Tuesday! Happy The Return of Red Beans & Rice to My Diet Day!
Huzzah!!!
It’s my boy’s birthday today. He’s thirteen.
It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood!
However, that is not an invitation to be my neighbor.

How about, I ship you a couple of mine? Neighbors, that is.
‘Twas an eventful morning so far. Got to work a bit early, but not early enough to beat my supervisor. Technically, anyway. He had sent me an email at 3:30 in the morning.
I’m beginning to suspect he might be an insomniac.
And I brought in the leftover birthday cake from the boy’s day. So many of my coworkers are happy with me.
For now, anyway….
Happy Saturday?!?
It’s certainly possible. The weather is beautiful and my comic book store is having a back issue sale today.
On the other hand, I slept poorly last night. So I’ll probably feel like dog crap most of the day.
Facebook kindly reminded me it was 11 years ago today my boy was in the hospital with a touch of pneumonia.
One of my scariest parent memories.
Happy Monday?!?
Perhaps……
If nothing else, it will be a busy Monday.
Ugh! My supervisor needs to make up his mind what he wants me to prioritize.
And where the hell is Snack Lady?!?
It’s been a busier than usual morning. Starting with getting to work later than usual after providing assistance to my wife on a task.
And since it’s got to work later than usual, I’ll leave later than usual. That’s where being busy will hopefully come it handy, by making the time seem to go by.
They let some project manager go at work. I found out because he was on an email chain, and I got an automated reply saying he no longer worked there. Apparently he wasn’t all that great at his job.
So now I’ll be paranoid the rest of the week.
Another busy morning. Yesterday I had been waiting for a third and final bid to come to us. The vendor finally sent it at quarter to 9 last night. So as soon as I got in this morning I had to finish the technical bid evaluation and send it to my supervisor.
Fun times.
I at least made time for coffee.
And maybe hint of jibber jabber.
From super busy morning to *yawn*.
My supervisor has been working from home all week. Even when he is in the office, he’s not the best at managing resources and making sure everyone stays busy. So when he doesn’t show up it’s even worse.
And I hate to reach out to him asking for something to do, because it basically means I get the s%+* jobs that much quicker.
AAAAARRRRRGGGHHHH!!!!!
The Stench just walked past my desk. She’s a young lady who wears waaaayyyy too much perfume. I’ve heard rumors it’s to cover up the stench of booze. I take those rumors with more than a few grains of salt, however.
Although, to be honest, that’s a “remains to be seen”.
Yesterday started off pretty good, then continued through an excellent lunch. The end of the work day was disappointing, however.
My immediate supervisor, the engineering manager, is leaving for another job. They’re promoting the I&E lead engineer to take his place, which is cool. Unfortunately, they also announced they’re going to try and hire a “lead mechanical engineer”.
Might be time to start looking for a new job. Which sucks, because this place is conveniently located and fits my schedule pretty well.
