Ugh. I keep putting of fixing the downstairs toilet. Technically, it still works. I just really don’t feel like doing it.

Poor Angel Studios. Looks like their latest film is going to be a box office disaster. I would say I’m sorry to hear that, but they brought it on themselves.

Don’t be surprised when you lie down with dogs and wake up with fleas. In this case, red fleas. Of the hammer and sickle variety.

Some chicken on the grill, and I’m sitting on the back porch enjoying a bit of sunshine and a slight breeze.

Another day or two, and I might finally be ready to give up on the whole engineering thing. Just go find some pissant job that’s boring as hell, pays like crap, but is at least stable.

Sad thing is, years ago I avoided oil and gas because I knew this kind of crap happened to older engineers. And yet, like an idiot, I chose to dive headlong into it anyway.

Scarab Sages

Ah well, it’s just the whole “sometimes you make bad choices” thing.

Scarab Sages

It doesn’t help that I’m starving because I didn’t eat lunch. That’s because when the wife went to the grocery store to pick up some crawfish, they didn’t have any. And weren’t going to until about 1 pm.

And that goes back to the a-holes at the BBQ place canceling our order on Friday.

Buzzard’s been hanging out around my house all day. Probably hoping I’ll finally keel over.

NOT TODAY SATAN BIRD!

Scarab Sages

And sometimes I’m honestly not sure if that’s a good thing.

One more turn of the chicken ought to do it. I generally flip them at 5 minute intervals, and do 4 or 5 of those. Depending on the size of the chicken breasts.

Scarab Sages

Ah, Monday. Go f@#k yourself.

Scarab Sages

At least the weather is nice again this morning. Though I slept horribly last night.

Scarab Sages

It's funny....

Yesterday afternoon I finally got around to replacing the fill valve in the half-bathroom toilet. Unfortunately, the shut off valve for the toilet wasn't closing all the way, so I had to shut off water to the whole house.

So then last night, the daughter calls me upstairs because the sink is "making weird noises". Only when I get up there, it won't do it. I explained to her it was air trapped in the line from when I had the water turned off.

If you ever feel useless, remember it took 20 years, trillions of dollars, and 4 US presidents to replace the Taliban with...the Taliban.

Scientists tend to agree 100% with the people who are funding them.

The three stages of growing up:

1. Young and dumb.
2. Motivated and hopeful.
3. F@#k everyone and everything.

Players create their characters:

- A rabies infected wizard with conjure water as his only known spell.
- An undead warrior who's got an appetite for dancing.
- Halfling Al Pacino lookalike.
- A Bard who only plays the triangle, plus a bit of the recorder.
- Inconspicuous goblin pretending to be a really short human, named Hugh Mann.

The DM: It is only out of sheer, morbid curiosity that I am allowing this freak show to continue.

Kangaroos are just deer that spent time in prison.

Socialists: People who want everything you have, except your job.

Me: We should watch Star Wars today.[i/]

My kid: [i]Are you actually going to watch it, or are you just going to say every line before they say it in the movie?

Me: We should quote Star Wars today.

My dog when she was younger: Hey, wake up. I've got to go stand in the yard and sniff things instead of peeing.

Prepare your kids for social media by hanging their artwork on the fridge and writing a bunch of mean comments under it.

Jim received a noted under the door and was intrigued, especially because it was the closet door.

Everyone complains about the weather, but no one wants to sacrifice a virgin to change it.

Is it too much to ask that a foreign country start taking some responsibility for itself, instead of continuing to suck our taxpayer dollars?

Scarab Sages

European scientists apparently created a fake virus, "Bixonimania", to see if they could fool an AI. They succeeded.

Scarab Sages

Some dude in Japan apparently got jail time because he posted movie spoilers. I'm talking like an entire script worth.

Scarab Sages

Aaah...Rhode Island. Looking to try on some authoritarian outfits.

Scarab Sages

Sorry Barney. You're one of the reasons they are this radical. Maybe should have thought of that while you still had some influence. And it's pretty rich of you to say "focus on the economy" when you helped saddle our economy with one of the most egregious examples of authoritarianism in decades.

Filthy commie.

Scarab Sages

A trucking industry insider is claiming there are plenty of CDL schools with substandard training methods. From the news, I have a tendency to agree with him. However, I'd worry his solution would be even more government overreach.

Scarab Sages

Damn! A flight landing in Newark somehow struck a truck and a pole. Thankfully, no one was killed, though the driver of the truck was injured. That's nuts.

Scarab Sages

Saw an article about another outbreak on a cruise ship. That gives me the heebie jeebies. I remember back to the cruise the wife and I took for our honeymoon. I suppose we got lucky.

Then again, I've got an old acquaintance who's been working cruise ships for years (first as an entertainer, now as a director), and she's never had a outbreak problem. Maybe it's just the media hyping it up. Seems like something they'd do.

Remember, if you hate the media, you don't hate them enough.

Scarab Sages

Bwahahahahahahahaha....

Another $1 billion is reportedly being tacked on to the price of that high speed train boondoggle out in California. So they divert it around a statue of a filthy commie. I wonder how much that disaster is going to eventually end up costing We the People.

Scarab Sages

Archaeology news?!? The wreckage of a WWI (that's World War One for some people in DC) ship, the Tampa, was discovered off the coast of England after being lost to a German torpedo over 100 years ago.

Scarab Sages

Ice skating robots? Why?

Just kidding. I think I know why. To help train and test their movement.

Scarab Sages

Damn! Even Meryl Streep is calling out Disney for how boring their Marvel movies have become. Considering Streep movies, that's saying something...

Scarab Sages

Definite Archaeology News! Researchers are pointing to a South Caucasus discovery suggesting wheat for baking may have been grown in the Georgia area (the country, not the state), as much as 8000 year ago.

Anyway...not much going on today. I'll probably go for a walk a little later. There's a troop committee meeting tonight, but after the insulting way I was treated last time, I might skip it. It's not like there's anything important going on. We're nearing the end of the year.

Besides....tomorrow is (theoretically) a special day. Do I really want to spend the night before with those annoyances?!?

Scarab Sages

Plus, if I skip it I can finish off All of Us Are Dead. Only two more episodes to go. Then I can treat myself to one of my favorite movies tomorrow night.

Scarab Sages

As see that, as noted previously, the domestic haul for that new, revised Animal Farm movie (you know, the one that reverses the actual moral of the story) was in fact thankfully disastrous. No word yet on the international box office, but I expect it to be much higher, considering how much the rest of the world seems to love communism.

Scarab Sages

Talking with the wife earlier, I casually mentioned I might do something special for my lunch tomorrow. She asked why? I just stared at her until she came to the horrible realization of just what she forgot about tomorrow.

Scarab Sages

So now it looks like I'm buying my own birthday presents.
