The Universe decided to make a liar out of me, and the USPS actually delivered. I’m shocked.

Happy Sunday?!?

Scarab Sages

We shall see. It's actually starting off quite unpleasant from a weather standpoint - rainy and cool. The temperature actually dropped down to the mid 50s overnight. I had to put on a light jacket to take the dog out to potty. Brrr....

I think the rain is supposed to stop for a few days now, but the cooler temps will stay until at least around Thursday. So I suppose that's kind of good. We're definitely in the "April showers" phase though.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but you're a great gardener. That plant really should have tried harder.

Not to boast, but I survived two years of two weeks to flatten the curve.

I met a magical fairy yesterday who said she would grant me one wish.

"I wish to live forever," I said.

"Sorry," said the fairy, "I'm not allowed to grant that particular wish."

"Fine," I said, "then I want to die the day after Congress is filled with honest, hard-working, bipartisan men and women who act only in the people's best interests."

"You crafty bastard," replied the fairy.

Government is the only entity that believes a bad idea could become a good idea if only it had more funding.

There is video from Poland of a humanoid robot chasing wild boar from a town. He even gives a nice little wave. Of course, next comes Skynet....

Amazon/MGM has reportedly extended the theatrical run of Project Hail Mary. That's a surprising and refreshing bit of news.

There was this kind of nice Elon Musk story. A 15 year old dying of cancer wanted to meet him. When he called her, she was too tired to speak. So she wrote down a list of questions, but died before they could speak again.

Musk took time to answer every question. The last one was asking if a plushie she created could be the official SpaceX mascot. He agreed. So he's not a complete douche.

A veteran and firefighter/inspector is currently battling his HOA about some vintage fire hydrants he displays in front of his house. None of his neighbors have complained. I wish him well in battling that evil.

Hiding a $2 billion "budget error"?!? Yeah, that sounds like government. A state government in this case.

RIP to Don Schlitz. He was one of the great songwriters in Nashville.

There was an interesting study done that indicated adults age 65-94 who reported higher levels (?) of loneliness also did worse on memory tests. This is something I see in my mother all the time. I wish we could have moved her here to Texas, where she could have been closer to myself and my younger brother, and the five grandkids we gave her.

A life jacket from a Titanic survivor sold at auction for $900K. My wife questioned what kind of person would buy something like that. I had to point out it's a big piece of history. Much like people paying a fortune for a painting by someone famous. Or a rare comic book. If people have the money, they will buy things like that.

Scarab Sages

Archaeology news! They discovered 16 paintings and petroglyphs on cliffs down in Mexico. The oldest date back to about 4000 years ago. The newer ones dated to around AD 900 and up to the early 16th century.

It's shocking to me (not really) how many in the media had "heard about" a certain recently disgraced and now former politician, but never actually did anything about it.

Again...if you hate the media, you don't hate them enough.

I watched this movie Dust Bunny last night, with Mads Mikkelsen. It was weird, kind of funny, and pretty entertaining.

Scarab Sages

Anyway....not much planned for today. A good bit of my time will be spent smoking the usual pork butt and maple bacon. Which I have to get started on as soon as I'm done here.

I'll also be doing the usual laundry. And hopefully plenty of reading.

Scarab Sages

The smell of something cooking in my smoker is a joy to behold. Mmmmm…..

Scarab Sages

Ugh! Clogged toilet. Damn those small humans.

Something tells me FIFA is going to be regretting their choice of a certain city to host....

Saw this story about some surfer being caught up in the midst of a shark feeding frenzy. I'd have probably been super creeped out and lost my s#$t. I blame Jaws for that.

Scarab Sages

Ugh! Returned home after picking up the boy from his practice hike and the daughter is watching the live action How to Train Your Dragon. I was saddened to see other studios engaging in the Disney tactic of creating soulless abominations as cash grabs.

Not to mention how much they screwed up the cast, and Vikings in general (though the animated did that as well).

Scarab Sages

Mmmmm…..soon. Dinner. Yum.

Scarab Sages

And lo! It was yum. And the yum was good.

The only problem was I think this pork butt was a bit too big. Near to five pounds. Some will probably end up going to waste.

Scarab Sages

Now I just have to figure out what I might like to watch on TV tonight. My brother suggested some show on HBO called DTF (I think). He described it as some suburban people up to sexual shenanigans.

So, basically, your typical Hollywood fantasy about what suburban life should be. The usual deviant crap being projected onto people who would, under normal circumstances, be better humans than them.

Scarab Sages

Meh. I prefer sci-fi, fantasy, or horror. Maybe the occasional comedy, if it’s actually funny. Which usually means older. Also some action movies.

Scarab Sages

I decided I needed a palate cleanse after the daughter had that abomination of a film How to Train Your Dragon on earlier today. So I put on the 1981 classic Dragonslayer.

Vermithrax Pejorative! The greatest on screen dragon ever!!!

Scarab Sages

I just realized something. Stephen King totally ripped off at least part of the idea for his book The Outsider from the sixth episode of season 1 of Supernatural. That the episode introducing shape shifters.

Can’t say I’m surprised. And I guess I wouldn’t be surprised the show runner of Supernatural didn’t call him out on it. King is the much bigger dog in that fight.

Scarab Sages

Happy Monday?!?

Scarab Sages

Of course not. It's Monday.

Scarab Sages

Sometimes when I feed my dog I sprinkle a little bit of my hair in the food. Just so we're even.

Scarab Sages

Oh yeah! It's 4/20! You know what that means?

It means that tomorrow is 4/21. Yeah, I'm old and no fun. F#$k you. Get off my lawn.
