Scarab Sages

So, yesterday the only time I left the house was to go get some lunch for everyone. I couldn't bring myself to go to Lowes or Walmart for new Christmas decorations.

And since it's going to rain later this evening and tomorrow, I probably won't bother with new Christmas decorations for another week or so.

Scarab Sages

Though, I did get some of my existing decorations down from the attic. Only the outdoor ones though. There's this light up owl we've had for years. Then there's two strings of lights. And finally a few things I added last year: Two light up plastic figures and a flat plastic reindeer cutout that sticks in the ground.

Scarab Sages

Not sure if I'll bother putting up any of that stuff today. The plastic light ups had to be cleaned off from last year, where they had mud on them from the rain. And since we're supposed to get rain the next day or three....

Scarab Sages

Stupid, grass-killing oak tree.

Scarab Sages

Stupid HOA for not letting me cut down the oak tree.

Scarab Sages

Then again, we can go with just Stupid HOA, and leave it at that.

Scarab Sages

And I did finally throw away the inflatable turkey. Since his neck was broken.

Scarab Sages

Anyway...it looks like other than my grocery store run and the comic book store, I don't have much else to do today. Maybe I can run over to that framing place and see about finally getting my old Saturn V 1st Stage Booster schematic framed. If she's open.

Scarab Sages

On a final (for now) note - I saw an article where James Cameron said if the third(?) Avatar movie doesn't do well, it could mean the end of the franchise.

So, there is hope!

Scarab Sages

I did end up bringing that old rocket schematic over to get framed. It'll probably take a week or three, but it should look nice once it's done. I worked with the lady to pick out the materials. That's one thing I like about her.

Scarab Sages

Not sure what I want to watch on TV tonight. It'll probably be something my wife dislikes though. I'm slightly annoyed with her at the moment.

Scarab Sages

Plus, I'm a bit tired of The Expanse at the moment. Last time I did the rewatch, I didn't even make it to the end of season 4.

Scarab Sages

Happy Sunday?!?

Scarab Sages

I don't know. Maybe. It's gloomy, cold, and rainy. And at various times I still feel like dog crap. The variation mostly comes from whether I feel like dog crap that's just sitting there baking in the sun, dog crap that's been stepped on, or dog crap that's been stepped on then scrapped off. So probably not.

Scarab Sages

Plus, I didn't get as much accomplished yesterday as I should have.

Scarab Sages

Plus, I didn't force my kids to do anything I wanted them to get done over the holiday week. It would have had to been me, because my wife doesn't care.

Scarab Sages

Plus, for some reason I was contemplating the inevitable downfall of western civilization and the rise of the damn commies. I was really hoping we were done with that nonsense 30 years ago.

Scarab Sages

Ah well....hopefully, where I live will be one of the last bastions of freedom until I'm taking a dirt nap.

Scarab Sages

Geez. Aren't I all kinds of cheerful today....

Scarab Sages

At least I didn't watch The Expanse last night. Seriously, the more I think about it, the more I realize most of the people are either plain old idiots, selfish jackasses, or downright evil. I think the only truly good person on that show was Prax. And maybe the preacher lady played by Elizabeth Mitchell.

Of the three major factions of humanity in that show, the Earthers are idiots who turned control of their lives over to a bureaucracy. Mars is bunch of militant a-holes. The Belters are just a bunch of commie rebels like you might have found in South America back in the day. None of them truly deserved to survive the show.

Scarab Sages

Anyway....what I did watch instead was Hellraiser and Hellraiser II. Not sure why, but it was a good enough way to turn my brain off for three hours.

Scarab Sages

So...

Now it's Sunday morning. I'm working through my second cup of coffee. I've got a pork butt and some maple bacon in the smoker. And I don't have to go anywhere today.

Scarab Sages

Speaking of my smoker....

I've got to find a good way to reduce the size of wood chunks for that thing. Most of the ones available to buy these days come in blocks that are just too damn big. Sometimes I can use a chisel and hammer to split them. Increasingly though, that doesn't work.

Scarab Sages

Finally got back to cataloging my comics. I’m now up over 10,000. I’ve got at least a couple hundred more to go. Not quite sure.

Scarab Sages

Ugh. Monday.

Scarab Sages

I slept like crap. It's cold. It's raining. I'm back in the office. So, yeah....ugh.

Scarab Sages

And to add salt to that wound, just as I was about to head into the office kitchen to put away my lunch and get my coffee, the f@$%ing fire alarm goes off. I had seen trucks downstairs from a fire alarm company, so was 99% sure they were just testing the system. Nevertheless, as a good employee, I grabbed my jacket and hat (because cold outside) and went downstairs to either evacuate or confirm my suspicion.

Since I am now typing with coffee in hand (so to speak), I think it's a safe bet how that went...

Scarab Sages

Hey, though! At least I had a pretty decent drive to the office.

Scarab Sages

And I got an email last night saying the troop committee meeting tonight was cancelled. Huzzah!

Scarab Sages

So then I checked the Slack thing we use for troop communication, and they had the announcement about the meeting cancellation there as well. Several people had given it a thumbs up, so of course I had to respond with "Boo! Hiss!" just to be different.

Scarab Sages

I do that sometimes in the actual meetings as well. Someone will call for a vote on something, and I might be the only person to object. Just for the fun of it.

Scarab Sages

Anyway...not sure what's going on here at work today. We'll be playing catch up, I'm sure from so many people being on vacation last week.

Scarab Sages

I am considering sending an email to complain about the lack of notification of the fire alarm testing. Just got to wait to find out who might be the best person to send it to.

Scarab Sages

I do have a few things I need to check on though, regarding my various PE licenses. That'll take a small bit of time today.

Scarab Sages

Speaking of....

I found a small box on my front porch yesterday, and it was addressed to me. Took me a few minutes to realize it was my physical stamp from North Carolina.

Scarab Sages

Holy crap! They've got the heater going full blast it seems. It's a bit too damn warm in here.

Scarab Sages

Thank the gods they seem to have turned down the heat. It isn't so unbearably warm in here anymore.
