Spent part of yesterday evening doing some reading, then watched a few more episodes of Penny Dreadful. Some of my favorite scenes are the ones with Frankenstein's Creature interacting with Vanessa Ives. The two of them just seemed to really play well against each other.
One of my main disappointments in the show was not making the Creature a part of the main group. I really wanted to see him teaming up with Ethan Chandler to take on a horde of vampires.

So....months ago the dog chewed one of a pair of insulated gloves I use with my smoker. Yesterday, she chewed one of the replacement pair. I don't suppose can blame her too much. They do smell pretty good. Anyway, the joke's on her, because I kept the leftover glove from the first pair, and it just so happens to be the opposite from the leftover of the most recent pair. So I once again have a complete pair.
HA! Take that you furry little s#@t!

Cool. I've been doing some training on software we use here at work. One of the training modules discusses modeling expansion joints, and the presenter mentioned a booklet produced by the Expansion Joint Manufacturers Association.
So I visited their website and ordered the book ($20). The order went through about 2:15 pm. By a little after 3pm I received a notice that it had shipped. Sweet!

I also saw the trailer for the new Kurtzman Trek series. Ye gods, did that look horrific. To think of so many legends who worked on the original series. And how awesome both it and Next Generation were. I also recall Deep Space Nine being pretty awesome, though I lost interest after a season or so.
How the mighty have fallen.

And one of the few projects I've been working on is moving to Issued for Construction. Which means there won't be any more work on the project for a good while. Especially with the construction actually being several months off.
Once it's built, I might have some more work to do. They'll have to hydrotest the pipe, and sometimes the client wants me to be a witness.

I finished up Season 2 of Penny Dreadful last night. I never did like the show killing of Sembene like that. He was cool. They could have done so much more with that character.
I'm debating how soon I'll pick up with Season 3. Not because I don't want to finish the series, but because Season 3 is my least favorite. I always thought it was kind of a mess.

I decided to take a break from Penny Dreadful and watch another series I'd heard about. It's called My Name, starring Han So-hee. She was also in Gyeongseong Creature, which I really enjoyed.
Anyway, in My Name she plays a young girl whose father is murdered. She joins a criminal organization to get help finding the killer. The crime boss, in turn, has her go undercover with the police. Hilarity ensues.
It's pretty damned good so far. And it doesn't hurt that Han So-hee is smoking hot.

It's amazing what you can find when you go searching through the office network. I was checking our "Calcs and References" folder, and found another folder with the name of our former Lead Mechanical Engineer. It had an Excel file called Book of Knowledge, with a bunch of useful information and work sheets. And a handy index with links to each tab, plus links to various websites.
All in all, it could be a very useful resource. I told my supervisor about it, and he recommend we cannibalize it for future use.

Huzzah! The wife finally called the tree guy to schedule a visit tomorrow. I’ve only been asking for about 2 months now. I want to at least get two smaller trees out front trimmed back a lot. Maybe get the oak tree trimmed back a bit as well.
Hopefully, I’ll be home from my doctor visit while he’s still at the house. That way I can get his name and number. Next time I need him to come out, I can call myself and not have to wait on the wife.

Still, tired zombie is tired. Yesterday was an even longer day than I had at first anticipated.
First there was the work all day. I left the house just after 5:30 am, and got back home just after 4:30 pm.
Then there was a the Board of Review last night. That kept me out of the house until about quarter to eight. It was not, however, without it's perks.
And, finally, I stayed up way too late, determined to finish up the show I had been watching.

Anyway, speaking of the perk from the Board of Review. It was mostly just me getting to indulge my inner weirdness. I was at the committee head's house, and her daughter was home from Westpoint. While I was speaking to her mother, the young lady came downstairs, seeming intent on not introducing herself. So I introduced myself, rather loudly. I think it caught them all off guard.
Which, of course, was the intent. I like it when people are unsure of how I'll react in a given situation. It gives them...pause. That kind of uncertainty can, on occasion, be very useful.
