Much to my dismay, he can't even use it unless he's disarmed. I Fiat'd it to work for him during the encounter and lawyer piped up before I beat him down with a stick.

The spear of the watchful guardian is a spear, not a longspear, so it is not a reach weapon, and works normally with Stand Still.

That's a major snafu on my end! Amends are in order for the players I stabbed at range with.
