Hello fellow gamers,

I was wondering if anyone had any interesting ideas for indicating where light sources are for miniatures? Right now we just use a bright yellow die, for example, to show where someone currently has their dancing lights spell.

Are there any products that would go well with miniatures? Other techniques?

Thanks for your time.

I use a yellow or orange plastic ring from the neck of a soda bottle. :)

For characters with light sources we use the GameMastery torch bearer pack you can get here on paizo.
The small pieces need some assembly but that is no real problem.

For lighteffects that have their originsomewhre father away from a character we use yellow or orange plastc circles that are popped up on some wood or plastc sticks so medium Miniatures can pass under them.

I've heard some concerns about the stability of the GameMastery product. Has that improved?

it is a bit tricky to assemble the small pieces (flame on the torch, toch an the clear holder) but with a good clear glue and a bit patience in the assembly work it was Ok for me.
I have had no problems so far with stability.

For dancing lights, where there are up to four lights, it seems it would be cool to use glass beads/floral "gems" of an appropriate color. They're cheap (link leads to a bag for $1.50). And place out the beads where the dancing lights are being directed.

They'd also be good to show areas of darkness/light etc. in mixed light regions--black beads on squares where there is magical darkness, etc. Could also do that with clear plastic sheeting or plastic math tiles too, which would be less pretty but more convenient (because you can put a mini on top of them.

In a few months we (Dungeon Crawler) are releasing our Combat Clips system which has 2 "light sources" (an orb and a torch) and 2 flags. They attach to our combat bases, which you could move across the board to where you need them if you don't want to switch out your minis bases for our combat bases.
