Never GMed a con before

PaizoCon General Discussion

Hi all,

I've GMed for our local PFS for a while, but never at a con like this. In addition, I'm running a table for the special event. Is there any place GMs are supposed to report before running a scenario, or do we just find our table and take a seat? What about the special? I played in the special last year, and with all the coordination going on I image there must be something we need to know to keep it running smoothly. Or will it all be covered in the PDF?

Thanks!

Hi Paulicus! Thanks for volunteering!

Mustering takes place in the hall out side the ballroom where PFS happens, arrayed according to tier. Thus, if you are running Merchant's Wake, you walk down to the tier 1-5 area, locate the person mustering the tables, introduce yourself, let them know which scenario you are running, and they will give you a table number. I can't remember if you will need to obtain a session sheet and chronicles from the main HQ table or if the muster will give them to you. I think you need to get them yerself. I recommend you arrive a good 30 minutes or so before the session starts.

As for the special, lsat year we had a meeting during the hour between the afternoon session and the special. This was our opportunity to ask questions, learn how the signaling system would operate, get clarification on a few items, and prepare for the general whatnot. I assume there will be something similar this year.

Have any other questions?

Thanks for the info! Very informative. I assume I should have the scenario printed out myself beforehand? I'll probably just print the signup sheet and certs with it. Would we get the event code for the certs at muster?

You definitely get the signup sheet and the chronicles as well, Leg just wasn't sure whether from HQ table or the muster person (and I forget as well). Event code should be pre-stamped on the chronicles.

Who will we be turning in the signup sheets to, or will we report the games ourselves?

I ask because our local VO usually takes care of reporting for our GMs.

You turn in the session sheet to HQ when you are finished. They will handle the reporting.

Ah, I see. Is it obvious where the HQ table is located?

Grand Lodge

Very obvious. Like, directly in front of the room with signs and banners and PFS papers on the table.

It's all very safe, disciplined, and organized these days. Back in the Old Days, I remember... well.. actually, there was an HQ table right in plain sight then too... hmpf.

Made me wonder, do the gm's that handle higher tier tables feel they are better than the gm's at the lower tier tables? Do the higher tier tables get better seating (a more comfortable chair)? :)

What is this, "more comfortable chair" of which you speak?

Ive heard 5 star GM's get soft chairs while lesser star GM's get chairs whose comfort was modeled off the throne in Game of Thrones.

Other than Mike Brock being carried on a palanquin by Venture Lackeys, everyone receives the same uncomfortable tuffet regardless of stars.

Liberty's Edge

"Chair"? *hmph* Real GMs stand!
