star wars rpg open table / organized play? how to make it work...

Other RPGs

Hey everyone,

I'm in a Star Wars: Edge of the Empire campaign right now with GMs rotating after each major plot arc so nobody gets burned out. It has been working really well, but the group is very consistent.

There has been some interest expressed in trying to run some Star Wars games in our FLGS. We've run the beginner boxes there a few times already. We have an extremely active PFS group there now, and I think it would be nice if we could offer some variety- but as far as I know, there is no SWRPG organized play available, so we would have to figure it out on our own.

How could we make the games work out well with having different players each time? We would probably have 3-4 GMs available to help out, so we could coordinate to some extent and try to minimize table variation to something reasonable, but I'm not sure if this idea is even remotely feasible, especially given the more cinematic/rule light feel of Star Wars. PFS seems to work well because it is very structured...

Thoughts?

Silver Crusade

Well home games are often similar to big epics like Lord of the Rings.....and I have always thought of a PFS scenario like a star trek episode. Its done in one evening.

If you are doing an OP SW game, Perhaps you could have something the pCs work for....say the rebel alliance, and they are sent on missions for the alliance. the teams are based on who the alliance has available at the time.

You might need to make sure each mission can be played in one evening.

I'm just borrowing a page from PFS, with their assumption that everyone is a pathfinder agent, and they are going on missions for the Pathfinder Society.

Just a thought.
