So later today we will be launching the nomad base class. The nomad is a wandering warrior from a far off culture (like a barbarian generally is) who is as skilled at ingratiating himself into said culture as he is at slaying his enemies. He has a unique “cultural adaptation” mechanic that is somewhat reminiscent of the ranger’s favored enemy. This draws from a variety of literary and historical sources such as Othello, Lawrence of Arabia (T.E Lawrence), and William Adams (AKA: Anjin Miura).
Mechanically, the class is a Wisdom-based martial character with a suite of unique mechanics that rely on cultural groups. Unlike the ranger’s favored enemy, he can store a large number of them and can even shift them as needed (to a point). He also has the ability to supernaturally ingratiate himself with members of such societies, a bonus on a number of key Charisma-based skills, and some fun class features that give him unique combat options due to his exotic/foreign style of combat.
To celebrate this, we are going to give a copy away to the first three people who post their own personal story about fitting-in in a new culture (either PM us or post here!).

When I was younger, I moved a lot. Not really "all over the world" or anything, but to a variety of different places in the U.S. The hardest move was from my hometown in Minnesota to Ohio, then to New Jersey a few months later. I was used to the kindness and general empathy so many of my Minnesotan peers seemed to exhibit... and neither Ohio or New Jersey exhibited that. I wanted to be nice, but nobody else was, so I eventually started... well, to be honest, I started being a jerk.
This, surprisingly, actually made my fellow kids like me. Some didn't because they were more of jerks than me, but I was fine with that. When I moved to Albany, I got a fresh start and tried to be the best I could be. I made a few very good friends, one of which is still my best friend to this day. Once I moved to Illinois, I realized that a lot of the kids at my lunch table were arrogant and boisterous, so I did the opposite of what I'd usually done. I became shy, so that they would take me under their wing and protect me.
There are a few more chapters to this story, but I've droned on long enough. :)
