I've read Flowers For Algernon more than once and it still gets me in the feels each time. Wonderfully written story. Never realized he wrote for Atlas/Marvel Comics.

I only read the short story "Flowers for Algernon" once, but I found it memorable.

The article to which you linked said "Keyes’ story was rejected five times, including once by an editor who demanded a happy ending." Jeez! What a way to destroy a good story!

I read the short story as part of my 7th grade English class. I soon found out there was a full novel version, so I read that. I was quite surprised that the full version was more "adult" than the short story. ;) In any case, both were very well written. While I confess I did not know that Mr. Keyes was still alive, I am saddened by his passing.

Oof. This hurts.

=(

Sad news. :(

May he rest peacefully.
