Okay so I’ve searched and come up with nothing here. Does anyone know how much a metamagic rod that uses a +5 to spell level metamagic feat costs? I’m looking for prices on all three versions.
Side Note: I’m well aware of the ring of transcendent spells, that’s not what I’m going for here.
Any help I could get with this would be much appreciated.
There is no such pricing because this is the first meta-magic feat to go above Quicken, which is only +4. We'd have to try and extrapolate prices from the existing data values, which is problematic. For instance, lesser metamagic rods are 1500 for +0, 3000 gp for +1, 9000 gp for +2, 14000 for +3, and 35000 gp for +4. Doing a curve of best fit doesn't work too well because the expected value dips for +3 for seemingly no reason.
If I were to estimate, you're probably looking at something in the 55-60k range for a lesser, ~100k for a medium, and 240-250k for a greater metamagic rodf Ascendant Spell. Fantastically expensive and probably something Paizo didn't intend to be a thing.
250k is what I was guessing as a far end as well, and considering at high end play a fighter can walk around with a +5 vorpal adamantine longsword for a little over 200k it feels about right. I already attempted to figure out a formula and realized that they must have eyeballed the prices.
