Interactive Maps and Roll20.

Rise of the Runelords

Hi there, I tried looking around to see if this solution has been posted elsewhere but I cannot seem to find an answer. Anyways, I will be starting Rise of the Runelords on the 14th for my friends on Roll20 and I wanted to use the maps from the Interactive Maps for my battle mats. One of the reviews said that they work in Roll20. However, the pdf file does not seem to allow for image extraction. I tried using pdf image extractors but none of the free ones worked right, one was so low quality they were unusable and the other would only export to a proprietary file type and I would have to pay for a converter. Any advice on what I should do?

Print screen. Then paste the image into GIMP and edit out the extraneous details. It's what I do.

Similar to Tangent101, I'm using Hypersnap to take screenshots and save them as .jpgs, then load them.

Check the "Community Created Stuff" thread as well -- they have lots of .jpgs and .gifs you can use for roll20.

I was very disappointed in the official Interactive Maps as well. The resolution is too low for Roll20. As soon as you get the zoom over 200% the quality deteriorates rapidly and you need it larger than that to actually use them.

Thanks for the advice. I figured I might end up having to do screen caps. I will definitely take advantage of the community files though, I think it's really awesome that people have done that to help others out.

Don't bother with the interactive maps for VTT usage. I just got suckered into buying them from Paizo and found out that the don't work for VTT usage. I am one disappointed consumer!

When asked in the past, Paizo staff have recommended using the maps from the adventure volumes for VTTs instead of the Interactive maps, as the Interactive maps have features and scripting that make them hard to extract.

I have used Nitro PDF reader to extract the images in a batch.
