So, I know the reputation of CHA as the most common dump stat. It really only boosts skills & class abilities (which can allow the creation of a few specific monster build). SO I've been thinking of adding the following as a free option:
Boundless ego: you can use CHA as a basis for your will saves rather than wisdom. Does not stack with divine grace & similar abilities.
Why do I think this is worth it?
CHA becomes "about" equal to WIS: Both stats give a boost to useful skills (though arguably wis is still better). Both stats are now as likely to be dumped. It can make it useful for the occasional charismatic martial.
Now I have one of my players (who is also a more experienced GM than I, though mostly with 3.5) that is ADAMANT that this is bad for the game.
I dont agree with him, and his main argument is that it's too good not to take for a bunch of classes. I would like to hear some more compelling arguments, because it doesnt quite satisfy me. I guess my main question would be:
Does this somehow break the fun of the players, or the ability of the GM to meaningfully challenge the players?
