Dragons Demand dragon scales

We have just completed getting the kobolds to move on and we have the green dragon scales and the black dragon scale. I was thinking of creating a shield out these but were not sure if they have any other connection with the rest of the townsfolk or the adventure.

What have some of you done with these?

They have a minor use in the Monastery in book 3.

The group in my game traded them to Sesina for his suit of +1 Studded Leather.

There's a note on page 48 regarding treasure for room F22 that describes what the scales can be used for.
