Apart from the hundreds of good reasons why this is a terrible idea... the idea has some serious merit. After all, with the US pushing through ubiquitous surveillance, laxed legal standards, disgusting extradition practices, weakened rule of law, horrid IP laws and so on (which was succinctly proven in CableGate) in even the countries who are allied to it, it gets more and more unreasonable that the US foreign policy should NOT be directed by an international democratic process. Claiming that people are not affected by the US presidency is pathetic after the War on Terror excesses, Orthos.

does it matter whether 314 million uninformed idiots vote or 7 billion uninformed idiots do? All it does is make the whole process a logistic nightmare of never-before seen proportions and open up all kind of possibilities for fraud.
While I would like to be able to influence the outcome of US presidency elections and I think it would be only fair considering how much US foreign policy messes with everything, I would not want to the US president to become some kind of world leader. If any country's political top should be allowed to hold that position it should be sweden's or norway's. The USA are one of the worst suited western countries for that much responsibility.

Guh... as a resident of Sweden... I bring you this message: You. Do. NOT. I. Repeat. You. Do. NOT! Want. the current-era political leadership here to make the calls for the whole world. Trust me on this.

Hilarious.
His record's something like three.
We figure it includes his mother and the mango tree outside his house.
It includes me and two others from these forums. They were big supporters of giving all women us citizenship. Thats like three in five thousand.

Democracy is flawed, but looking at the standard of wealth and education up there i would say sweden and norway have the best track record.
