anyone got ideas / rules for scaling up the organizations?

The organizations just give typical examples rather than rules for working things out. I'm trying to create a trading company and I'm not sure how to go about it and was wondering if anyone had done this (got a lot of major exams coming up and can't devote time till after June). Do I just scale up 10/100/1000 fold for a kingdom rather than a small town? Is the typical example serving a major city or a village. So anyone thought about this?
