Faction Mission boons and GM Credit

Liberty's Edge 1/5

I recently ran Destiny of the Sands Part I and applied the chronicle sheet to one of my characters. The party that played through it didn't have and Sczarni characters, but my PC is. Now the group didn't fulfill the Sczarni faction mission and, obviously, didn't get the boon. However, when filling out the sheet to apply it to my character do I gain the Sczarni boon or not?

Yes. Actual table play has no bearing on the GM credit chronicle. A GM may choose to take any relevant boon (beneficial or detrimental) off the chronicle sheet, as long as it's not limited specifically on the chronicle (i.e. if there's a choose one or the other you can only take one of them, or if your character being applied to is of the wrong faction for a faction boon you can't take that faction boon).

Okay, awesome, thank you. I thought that the GM got what the party got for everything, such as the either/or boon on this particular scenario. However, with no Sczarni players I was confused. Good to know that I can customize it a little bit in the future.

Now, as far as reporting is concerned, I leave it as it was played, right? I can go in and add success on the Sczarni mission if need be, but that seems illogical since it didn't play out like that in game.

Right, your chronicle has no bearing on the actual play. It goes both ways. You can gain a success on your sheet that the player's didn't get, and any successes on your sheet don't affect their game.

For reporting, you just report what happened at the table. For example, if no Sczarni actually played then, their check box stays unchecked even if your GM credit character gets credit for doing their little thing.

Think of your credit as a separate stand alone little freebird that has no weight or bearing on success or failure of any criteria. It's just a "Thank you" from the campaign for giving back basically, even if the party wipes as they stick their nose in the first door you get thanked for setting up/running the game for the group.

Awesomesauce. Good to know, thanks for the replies.

Also remember that you get gold and access as appropriate for your GM PC, not as appropriate for the sub-tier run, so, even if you run at 1-2, if your GM PC is 5th level, you get the 4-5 gold and access.

Wow, that I didn't know either. That changes some of my chronicle sheets for my Andoran freedom fighter then. I was under the impression that the GM got whatever the party got, almost as if the character had been with the party.

I'd suggest taking some time and re-read the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play and pay close attention to Chapter 7, the GM chapter. I know there's a lot to read, but the answers are there. I try to reread it a couple of times a year, as there's usually things I missed in prior readings.
