No, player crafted stuff is still the way to get your gear. Just as it was during your last visit. Just as it was when the game was announced.

If it is item drops that you're looking for, PvP is more likely to produce item drops than PvE. This is particularly true with higher level PCs who may not have enough threads to protect the gear they are using. Players can not protect their inventory items from looting as well.

That is true. There is another way to get gear. Durp-durp! I forgot.

Items will drop in PvE, Bringslite. It's just that, they won't be items you can wear, and most of them you won't be able to use in the state that they drop. :)

I'm pretty sure that item drops are basically to supply crafting materials.

To be fair there's only a few people I'd notice go missing and it would take a long time for me to realise it.

Yes, Mr. Smarty Pants. "Items" will drop. If you use your imagination, you can even decide that the items are the wrecked "gear" that the mob was using.
