Mote Virtual Tabletop Kickstarter @PitchFuse

Gamer Life General Discussion

Hi everyone,

We're doing shameless plugging wherever we can about our upcoming Kickstarter.

My company and I have been working extensively on improving Maptool. We call our fork Mote, and we're about to launch on Kickstarter on February 14

Since it's about 2-3 days away, we've prepared a pre-launch page for those curious about our project. If you are interested, please toggle the notification control on PitchFuse, and share this info to people who want to know more.

Here our PitchFuse link :)

Thanks and we hope to see most of you on our launch!

Best regards,

Lee

Linkified, reposted, and backed! :D

I'd love to see an updated version of MapTool, be cool if it has the ability to open campaign files from the original as well.

EDIT: It would also be great if we can finally paint/erase the vision-blocking layer in addition to the old shape-drawing method.

Hi Laithoron :)

Sorry for only getting back to you now, we've been writing code, and doing art, all day XD

You'll be glad to know that Mote's completely compatible to MapTool campaigns; we made sure of it.

Would undo/redo for VBL work for you? It's already in Mote, if that's the case.

Thanks for the support ^_^ and for sharing. I hope it doesn't cliche, but we really appreciate it!

Great to hear about the backwards compatibility. As far as VBL, undo/redo would be helpful, but a paint/erase tool would be even more helpful. ;) Would I be correct in guessing that the VBL data is vector-based and therefore difficult to modify with a traditionally raster-based editing method?

Unfortunately, you're correct, which is why we want to do things differently, given the chance. If not, we'll try to come up with something, though, off the top of my head, you are also correct that it's tricky :))

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Hi,

I double-checked and I over-thought your question. VBL already has paint and erase. What it lacked was undo/redo, so now that makes it complete.
