Kobold with primitive template as PC?

There have been several threads about making Kobolds stronger to serve as PCs. I like some of them like seth's idea of just lowering the stat penalties by 2, because it is easy.
The Giant template looks good, too but I want them to remain small.

But now I've seen the primitive template.

While I see the stats as balanced enough for the kobold I fear the scent ability and feats are too much. What would you say?
Without the template the kobold has -4 stat points with the template it is still -2. That's 4 points less than the average classes and 6 points less than the aasimar.

Primitive kobold:

The primitive kobold has the following stats and abilities:

Dex:+2, Con: +2, Int: -4, Cha: -2

Darkvision, Low-light vision, light blindness, scent

Natural armor bonus +3 (or is it +2 for not stacking)

Slam attack at 1d4 which is lost if it gets a racial natural weapon from an alternate racial trait or the tail terror feat.

Great Fortitude, Skill Focus : Perception, and Toughness as bonus feats

Crafty: Kobolds gain a +2 racial bonus on Craft (trapmaking), Perception, and Profession (miner) checks. Craft (trapmaking) and Stealth are always class skills for a kobold.

Skills: +4 racial bonus to Stealth and Survival skills
I do not know if racial class skills are retained without a racial HD. I guess not.

The one I have in mind would exchange his natural armor for a bite attack and by doing that would loose his slam, too. And I guess he would loose both the normal racial +1 as well as the increased natural armor from primitive. At least that's how I'd treat it.
In addition he'd take day raider to loose light blindness but that would take away darkvision. And as he already has low-light vision he would not get that.

tl;dr
Is the primitive template too much to allow on a kobold pc?
If it is, how much too much?


We will just give it a try and see how it works out.


I think the three free feats are too much personally, but besides that I could see it working out.


Just give 'em Skilled an' Flexible Bonus Feat.

And a couple chainsaws. Look, we deserve it for being the best race.
