This is the third origins game fair I have been to and it was by far the best one. Mike McNerney was very accommodating and the headquarters staff did an excellent job mustering all the tables to full capacity. I ran 11 tables and six of those went off at tier 8-9 or higher. I played two games and a midnight madness game and it was all fantastic. He has set the bar pretty high as far as a great convention experience.

And for people like me, who prefer to run low-tier games (I sort of think of myself as a "Teaching GM"), I had plenty of chances to run those (including the Special.)
I thought there was a good selection of scenarios across the various tiers.

McNerney. Amazing as always. He's assembled quite the team with June and Costello, and adding Luke and Jim made the team that much stronger.
The most amazing part was the number of players who stepped up to GM, and the ability to never turn away a generic ticket and prop up any player to GM any game at a moments notice. I don't think the sense of community and customer focus is appreciated as much as it should be.

It was such a great learning experience, and I do have to say that June was utterly amazing. That's the kind of person every HQ organizer wants to have around!
And Luke's laser-etched build of the Blackros Museum? Insane. Just brilliantly insane.

Thanks for the praise, Brent. As a relatively new VL, this was quite the learning experience for me!
I'm very pleased to hear how happy everyone was with the show and I'm certain Michael is too!

Mike, thanks for all of the hard work. Without your efforts the event would not have been nearly as successful as it was. When do we start planning for next year? :-D
I am always amazed by our community. The professionalism demonstrate by our HQ staff was extraordinary, our guests questions and concerns were always handled in a respectful manner, whether it was early I the morning or half an hour after we were supposed to be done for the night. Our players showed a willingness to teach and help those less experienced than them that was comforting and put a big smile on my face. Finally everyone showed a level of patience that was nothing short of superhuman. After the convention I am always reminded why this is my past time of choice.
I had a blast building the museum. (Mike, where can I find how photos? I forgot to take any of my own.) any suggestions for my project for next year? I am interested in any scinerio that can be played on one map (I am considering a certain haunting), but would consider anything that may be made up of several small maps. Alternatively something that we could have on each table? A game aid of some type?
Anywho, I hope everyone is getting some sleep. I think I may be recuperated by October.

Thanks everyone for all the kind words I know Mike McNerney, Mike Costello and I, as well as the rest of the HQ folks appreciate it. This kind of event would not be possible if it were not for the local and not so local volunteer GM's and those players that stepped up to the plate to GM when needed. The list of people who helped in every way is large and although I didn't name everyone - you know who you are and know that you are appreciated!
PFS at Origins has continued to grow in a fast pace these last few years. We found or created tables for every person that walked in with generics. Even when every ticket was sold for a slot and we still had 40 additional gamers looking to be seated, we made it happen. NO ONE was turned away.
One of the things that keeps me going to Origins every year is the level of camaraderie and espirit de corps that we have both as an HQ Team and with the PFS players as well. Even when tensions are high and everyone is sleep deprived we find a way to push through and make it happen. It's all about teamwork and giving gamers the best experience possible. This is directly attributed to good leadership in the form of Mike Mcnerney.
Special thanks to Erik Mona and Jason Buhlman who gave out promo minis to every PFS player and they signed books for some of the youngest gamers which was sweet!
Without stealing Mike's thunder - I'll just say that the table numbers coming out of Origins are huge. See HERE all the folks on the right side are generics waiting to be seated. I know when he recovers from the con, he'll chime in.
2015 will be a great year for PFS at Origins and I look forward to seeing everyone again.

And now, the unpleasant side of Origins.
When I checked in, at least one of my roommates was already there, but they never asked him for a credit card. I put one on file, with the express authorization to only bill three nights of valet parking. The person at the counter said they could do that, no problem. She assured me that only my valet parking would be charged to my card, and every other charge would be declined (my room was paid for since I was GMing/working HQ.)
Today, in reviewing my credit card account, a charge in the amount of $162.15 showed up, having been charged by the Hyatt. This is in addition to the $75 for parking. Apparently, one of my roommates (I didn't know either of them) billed $162.15 to the room.
After nearly 15-20 minutes on the phone, the accounting department at the Hyatt finally figured out who it was (at least, she had a name, but I don't know if it was one of my roommates or not) and assured me that my account will be credited that amount within the next two days.
While I get it was just a slip-up on the part of the hotel, wouldn't you think if you checked out and knew you had charged a bunch of stuff that you would look at the bill and say, "oh, wait, my charges aren't on here?" The charges did NOT appear on my bill when I checked out - the only thing on my bill when I checked out was the charge for 3 days of valet parking (which is what I should have had, so that was fine.)
The hotel is going to take care of it, but I can honestly tell you that this is going to make me think twice about rooming with people I don't know again. And now I sound like I don't trust people, but that's a pretty costly mistake (fortunately, not a major one for me, but you never know.)
Check those credit card accounts, folks.
