Liberty's Edge 1/5

I'm running an event at a local con and I am looking for a few scenarios to have run at the con and any suggestions to help me organize and facilitate the games. The con is 10-6 so I plan on running 2 time slots with I hope 3 tables each slot. Also any suggestions on boons for GM’s and players. I’m thinking of a drawing or something for the players and need some ideas for items.

From going to a couple cons, it seems most of the offerings are the newer scenarios. The local con this year here in Denver is doing all Season 5 scenarios with certain slots reserved for GM's to say "I want to run this one from season x because it's fun and I want to!". But for the most part, the new scenarios seem to be the ones offered, partially because they are the ones the more experienced PFS players haven't played yet.

I think the key is to have something for everyone. Offer a 1-5, a 3-7 or a 5-9, and maybe a 7-11 each slot, depending on your demographic there.

In the end, that's what matters. What is the demand for your area? Are you mostly new players who don't have any high level things or many older scenarios under their belt? Or is everyone more experienced and finding something people haven't played is a chore? Ask around, talk to your VO's, try to figure where people stand.

My friend and I have been running scenarios for about a year and a half, but the highest we have is level 6 and we try to stay on top of the scenarios that come out. We are going to not run the new ones form 5-12 on until the con.

Is it the WizardWorld Comic Con, or is it an local con with gaming pre-registration? The venue and how you get players will greatly determine what you should run.

I GMed at Comic Con when it was in town a few months ago and the participants you'll get from one of those are different from a more specialized events. What I encountered was a lot of walk-by pickups who were new to Pathfinder and often had time limitations. We Be Goblins and We Be Goblins Too worked exceptionally for that venue. Master of the Fallen Fortress or a Beginner Box run also worked well.

If the convention has a large enough pool of Pathfinder Roleplayers that are willing to make a 5+ hour time commitment at the convention, having a mix of different tiers could be useful, probably on an emphasis on low-tier content. Just keep in mind that most scenarios are a hefty commitment for your average con-goer.

If you can clarify some of the specifics for the convention, I'd be happy to throw in a few more suggestions.

It's just a local con I'm not sure how I would do pre-registration. I am going to put in We Be Goblins and the second. I was hopeing to add a few small ones like the ones they ran at Gen Con last year it was pre-gen characters and like 15-30 min game, but I don't know where they got them from

Shaun,

Do you have a VO that can assist you.

I am running a Comic Con soon, if you need my assistance PM me.

Liberty's Edge 1/5

I'm not sure who my VO is really I think the closest one is Memphis TN

For the record, if you're in a city that doesn't have a VO listed, you can just contact someone nearby for advice too. If Memphis is close, then send Phillip an email, but if there are a few about the same distance away, send them all a copy of the email and see who's got the most free time to get you some support.

Asking here is a great idea, though.

Many times, pre-registration for PFS games is done through Warhorn or another similar service that is separate from the convention itself. You can contact the convention organizers and get them to include a link to your Warhorn event on their website. We've found success that way with some of the smaller conventions in Ontario - the con runs their registration, but we handle the PFS stuff ourselves to make sure that we can adjust the offerings as possible.

With only 6 sessions of PFS, you won't get any official prize support from Paizo (the minimum for that is 15 sessions), so anything you do will have to come out-of-pocket. You might pick up a couple of copies of the Pathfinder Society Primer and raffle those off to GMs, or some dice, or minis, copies of the comic, or whatever -- basically, something small as a token of appreciation that won't cost you a ton. You can also ask the convention if they'll help with support - many gaming conventions comp entrance fees for GMs, so this comic convention might as well.

I agree with Wolfspirit's suggestions for scenarios. I'd add the Intro scenario from season 3, In Service to Lore, and the Confirmation to your list as well, and perhaps the Ambush in Absalom delve - it's shorter, so it's more suited to a drop-in audience.
